WAGS on WATER Wags on Water is unique. We board, foster, rehabilitate and rehome dogs in need on a 1:1 basis.

We also rescue and source rehabilitation for any wild animal in need. All this whilst afloat a 65ft long barge called Yaffle, on the River Orwell.

Yesterday Laura brought me this perfect little white dove. She is perfect in every way, but she can not fly. She arrived on a very sad day for me. I'm not religious, but I do believe we are part of something bigger and I believe in signs from the universe.

Yesterday a dear man called Paul passed away. He and his wife Kay, have trusted their dog Murphy (AKA Mr Fiesty) into my care, for nearly a decade. They loved their holidays and created so many wonderful memories over the last few years. And I adored my time with Murphy.

Paul had been very unwell for some time but he visited this page regularly. He was still interested in what I was doing (responding to a post earlier this week) even though he was so poorly.

I'm stood looking at this beautiful little creature and I'm thinking of Paul. White doves are a powerful symbol of peace and hope and she arrived as Paul left this world. Paul is no longer in pain and his soul is free. My love goes out to Paul, Kay and Murphy. 🤍

We have 4 Zante Strays onboard today. What a wonderful situation to find myself in, just when I need it most. Ember (the resident dog) Tabitha (the returned foster) Rudi (current foster) and Teddy (Rehomed). Surrounded by all this fluffiness is good for my bruised soul.

Teddy has arrived for a long weekend. He is a dog I have rehomed twice and now has a wonderful family who live in Ipswich. I love having past crewmates to stay, as its great to see how they are flourishing.

Rudi was super excited to say Hi and Teddy responded with matched enthusiasm. Ember stayed close to monitor and her presence soon brought calm. So the captain has a love filled Barge Yaffle this morning. ❤️‍🩹

I shouldn't have gone up New Cut West today.

I was checking on Cat and Alfie's whereabouts and saw the start of clearance work. Some pontoon sections were being towed and removed. It looks like their nesting site is being broken up too. They have nested here for over a decade. Where will they nest in spring 2027? I just don't have the energy to fight this battle for them.

Further up the road was even more depressing. This was my home for 13 years. It had a community and some people's lives have been devastated (since the closure of Debbages) including mine. I sat in my car and cried.

I was already feeling fragile after 4 of the 5 birds in my care didnt make it. The cat attack woodpigeon was PTS this morning, after spending the night at the vets. Tatty (Feral pigeon) Den (Collared Dove) and a Redwing (arrived yesterday) all had injuries (all cat attacks) that would not improve with rehab, so they also had to cross the rainbow too. So I really shouldn't have gone up New Cut West today.

Yesterday a kind man called Lee, contacted me asking for help with a collared dove. The dove has a wing injury and the loss of tail feathers is indicative of a cat attack. Its eating and drinking, but not flying.

Now named Den, this little one is in our care, but will be moving onto a rehabber very soon. Lee gave me some healing crystals as a thank you, which was very thoughtful of him. ❤️‍🩹

Sheldon arrived from the same location as Cooper. Thankfully Sheldon hasnt got any peanuts in his digestive system. He is currently being tube fed Nutribird A21 handrearing formula, as he isnt feeding independently. He has a shallow dish of seedin his cage, but is showing no interest in having a peck.

In the wild, Sheldon would be mimicking the pecking behaviour of his parent birds, whilst still being fed a regurgitated mix of crop milk and seeds. In spite of my efforts to show him the seed by tapping on the dish, he isnt interested, but this will change given time. He will soon be moving onto a rehabber and tbe next stage of his life. ❤️‍🩹

Its a wet day for a walk, but both myself and the crew need to get out for some fresh air and exercise. My spine is reacting to the change in weather, so I need to keep moving or I will sieze up.

It really does feel like autumn now, and back on Barge Yaffle, the fire is lit so we will all snuggle on the sofa later watching the flames 🔥

Tatty the pigeon from Tackett Street has wounds on its neck and tail and was seen struggling by Hannah. Poor little Tatty was being stood on by the rest of the flock and needed help. From the semi healed state of his wounds, he was attacked a few days ago.

Once he arrived onboard Yaffle, I was able to use my newly purchased cradle, to treat Tattys wounds. The cradle kept him still, whilst I renoved feathers and washed and cleaned the injuries, using cotton buds moistened with Hibiscrub.

Once he dried out, I then applied antibacterial powder to the wounds and popped him in a heated box with food and water. Much to my relief, he immediately started eating, which is a good sign, so no need to tube feed him.

Tatty will be seeing a vet for antibiotics tonight. In spite of how horrible his injuries look, Tatty seems to want to live, so I will do my best for him. Thanks to Hannah's kindness this little bird gets a second chance. ❤️‍🩹

Rudi is a lovely, energetic goofball of a dog. He is playful and sweet natured. Originally from Zante in Greece, Rudi came to the UK in July 2025. Sadly Rudi is being rehomed due to his prey drive and the family cats not being compatible.

Rudi is well behaved in the home. He has shown no distructive behaviour or aggression towards the two resident or visiting dogs in his foster home. He loves his food and waits patiently for his bowl to be put down. He sleeps well at night and is well mannered.

Rudi is walked on a head collar, as he has a tendency to pull. Rudi has shown some reactivity towards other dogs when on walks, but this is due to excitement and not fear or aggression. He has responded well to training in this area so far. He will need ongoing training in his new home.

Rudi has high prey drive and is currently kept on a long line on walks. He can get very excited by anything that moves fast, and loses his listening ears at that point. Any new adopter needs to realise that Rudi may never be able to be off lead, unless in a secure field. He doesnt enjoy car trips, but is a good boy and tolerates them.

Rudi would be best placed in a home with one or more older well adjusted resident dog/s to learn from. He could also be a solo dog if he had plenty of human interaction. Rudi is very empathic and loves cuddles but he also enjoys being busy and would suit an active household. Rudi will need a home with dog savvy children 10+ due to his bouncy nature.

Rudi really is a gorgeous boy and will make someone a faithful companion. If my future was more stable, he would be staying here. For a chat about Rudi, please PM. The adoption is being handled by Zante Strays Rescue and will be subject to a home check and adoption fee. ❤️‍🩹
