Christchurch Veterinary Surgery A friendly, well equipped practice offering excellent care for your pets. Christchurch Veterinary Surgery was opened in 2001, by Shane and Charlotte Morrison.

In 2011 we opened a new building at Tuddenham Road business centre, where our referral department (which deals with complex surgeries) was moved to. All of our vets are very experienced. We are an independent, family run business, who strive to deliver the best service for your pets, with a personal touch.

Monty came to see us last month for her second vaccinations, and proved to be a very confident lady! 😻

This gorgeous British Shorthair kitty received full coverage immunisation, giving her protection from:

🐾Feline leukaemia virus
🐾Feline Calicivirus (respiratory infection/ulcers)
🐾Feline Herpesvirus (rhinotracheitis)
🐾Feline Panleucopenia Virus (infectious enteritis)

Helping a beloved pet to pass peacefully is one of the most difficult decisions a family can face. It is a deeply emotional time, and something our team approaches with the utmost care, compassion and respect.

You may notice a candle glowing in our reception area when a patient is making their final journey with us. This small gesture is our way of honouring that pet and showing our support for the family who loves them.

🐾 Today, we celebrate our amazing canine companions! From bounding puppies to sweet seniors, pedigrees to crossbreeds, and cuddly couch pups to hardworking service dogs, every dog has a special place in our hearts.

This year's theme focuses on welfare and safety, helping to ensure that all dogs can live happy, healthy lives. It also shines a spotlight on our incredible working dogs, including police and guide dogs, while promoting adoption and rescue.

At Christchurch Veterinary Surgery, we're very lucky to care for two particularly special pooches:

⭐ Beautiful Cocker Spaniel Berry was recently adopted by RVN Megan's family after finding herself in a rescue situation. Since then, she's come on leaps and bounds and is an absolute star whenever she visits the practice.❤️

⭐ Handsome German Shepherd Carter served as a Police Dog in Essex for five years before enjoying a well-earned retirement with his devoted owners. He visits us regularly for his senior care and is the very best boy every single time! ❤️

Poor little Ross came in recently, squinting with a weepy eye. 👁

After applying some local anaesthetic, Vet Tracy used a cotton bud to check behind the third eyelid—also known as the nictitating membrane—and found a huge grass seed! 🌱

Tracy then made sure no ulcer had formed by staining the eye, and although Ross needed a short course of antibiotic eye drops, he was given the all clear!

RVNs Naomi and Emma recently set out on a wildlife rescue mission to save a tiny sparrow fledgling. 🐤

A couple of weeks ago, a member of the public reported spotting the little bird fly under a car on Christchurch Street, prompting the nurses to check it out.

Although they could hear him, he remained hidden, and after a while of kneeling under the car, the rescue seemed impossible—until Naomi tried mimicking the bird’s mother. At that sound, the sweet little fledgling appeared and was safely rescued!

After a few days in Naomi’s care, being fed waxmoth larvae and mealworms, he was taken to the amazing , where he stayed until making his way to . ❤
