𝗧𝗛𝗜𝗦 𝗖𝗛𝗔𝗡𝗚𝗘𝗗 𝗜𝗡 𝟮𝟰 𝗛𝗢𝗨𝗥𝗦 — 𝗔 𝗥𝗘𝗠𝗜𝗡𝗗𝗘𝗥 𝗙𝗢𝗥 𝗬𝗢𝗨𝗡𝗚 𝗛𝗢𝗥𝗦𝗘𝗦
I’ve got a young horse, only four weeks under saddle, and he’s been going really well. I check his mouth daily.

Yesterday, nothing unusual.

Today, I found two small hard bumps under the gum at the front of his lower bars, just behind the incisors. His canine teeth are starting to erupt.

Why it matters is simple. A young horse learning to accept the bit needs to feel comfortable and confident in his mouth. If something changes overnight, it’s very easy to accidentally create discomfort without meaning to.

It’s a reminder that their mouths are not static at this age. Things can change quickly.

Moral of the story: check their mouths often, get them used to handling, and pay attention to small changes. Comfort builds confidence.

What a summer so far...

Just a few of the horses I've had the pleasure of fitting over the last month or so. Every horse is different, which is why every bit and bridle fitting is tailored to the individual.

A well fitted bridle makes all the difference.

This Shires bridle was custom fitted with a few alterations to achieve a neat, balanced fit for this horse. Every adjustment is made with comfort and function in mind, rather than simply accepting an off the shelf fit.
