📞 Quick shop update 📞

It's been brought to my attention that the phone number listed on Facebook doesn't appear to be working at all!

I'm getting this looked into next week, so please bear with me while I work out exactly what's happening and whether we need a new number or just a fix to the current setup.

In the meantime, if you need me, please pop me a Facebook message and I'll get back to you as soon as I can 🐾

I'll post an update as soon as everything is sorted. Thank you for your patience 🤍

One thing people note about me is that I'll tell you exactly what I think 😅🐾

And they're probably right.

Before I opened the shop, my career was all about people. I spent years working with the public, fundraising, travelling, having conversations with complete strangers every day and helping people find the right solution for them.

I loved it.

And I think that's why I've ended up running this shop the way I do.

I've never believed in gatekeeping information.

If I know a great walker, groomer, trainer, dog sitter, dog-friendly café, beach or local business, I'll happily tell you.

If there's a product I don't stock but I think it's the best option for your dog, I'll tell you that too.

If there's a way to do something cheaper without compromising quality, I'll tell you.

Not because I'm bad at business.

Because I'm a human first.

I genuinely believe that if you help people, support people and treat people fairly, good things tend to come back around.

Every day I learn something new. I ask suppliers questions, challenge brands, research ingredients, compare products and have conversations with people who know far more than me in different areas.

Because the more I learn, the more I can help you.

And honestly, that's one of the things I love most about Ilfracombe.

The sense of community.

The recommendations.
The conversations.
The people sending people my way.
The people checking in on each other.

I've never felt that supporting one person means taking away from someone else.

There's room for kindness.
There's room for honesty.
There's room for good businesses.

So thank you for supporting mine 🤍

Whether you've bought a box of raw, a natural chew, a supplement, recommended us to a friend or simply stopped for a chat (I have lots about the plants) I appreciate every single one of you.

And if you've ever asked me a direct question and got a direct answer... well, you were warned 😅🐶

Nearly one year ago, I opened Coastal Canine Cuisine with a handful of freezers, some natural treats, and an accessory range that started life as my lockdown hobby.

If I'm honest, I don't think I could have imagined what the last year would become.

We've gone from a few small freezers to a shop full of raw food, natural treats, supplements, accessories and so many brands I never dreamed I'd be stocking in year one. We've outgrown one premises already, moved into a bigger space, and every single week I meet new dogs (and humans!) who have somehow found their way through the door.

The thing I'm most grateful for isn't the freezers, the stock or the move.

It's you.

The number of times I hear:
🩵 "So-and-so told me to come and see you."
🩵"My friend recommended you."
🩵 "I've heard good things."
That never gets old.

This shop has grown almost entirely through word of mouth, recommendations and people being kind enough to share what we're doing. As a small business owner, that's honestly the biggest compliment you can give me.

I've got some really exciting plans for the summer. The outside space is slowly coming together, there are new products arriving all the time (today included 🤭), and there are plenty more ideas still to bring to life.

As we head into our first proper summer on the Prom, I'd love some feedback from my locals too 👇

At the moment we're open 10am–4pm Tuesday to Saturday.
Would later opening one evening a week be useful for you?

I know summer gets busy, people are working longer hours, and I'd love to know whether an evening opening would genuinely help people get to us.

Thank you for supporting a little dog shop with big dreams.

Thank you for trusting me with your dogs.

Thank you for every recommendation, every share, every review, every conversation, every photo and every waggy tail that's walked through the door.

Year one has been a bit wild.

Let's see what year two brings 🐾🩵

Well… tick season is clearly here 🙃🕷️

Nothing quite humbles you like your dog casually picking up one of THESE in your own garden during a heatwave 😭😂

With the warmer weather, we’re definitely seeing more ticks, itchy dogs and people wanting to know what natural support options are available — especially if they’re trying to avoid constantly reaching for heavy chemical treatments where possible.

So over the next couple of weeks I’m going to be bringing in and talking more about:
🐾 Natural tick & flea support
🐾 Coat and skin support
🐾 Environmental management
🐾 Gut support
🐾 Worm counts / poo sample testing

Because one of the biggest misconceptions is that you have to blindly treat all the time. Sometimes testing first and knowing what you’re actually dealing with is a really helpful option.

And yes… before anyone asks… this disgusting little hitchhiker was removed immediately 🤢😅

If you’ve got questions about ticks, worms, natural support, testing, or just want to know what options are out there — come and chat 🐶🌿

🚨 Doggy kefir is waiting 🚨🐾🍦

With the UK heatwave properly kicking in, don’t forget to stock up on cooling treats for your dogs when you pop in 😍

We’ve got frozen Doggy Kefir Froyo in FOUR flavours:
🍓 Venaberry (venison + mixed berries)
🥜 Peanut Butter & Jelly
🌿 Mint Choc Chip
🫐 Multi Berry

Healthy doggy ice cream packed with goodness… and honestly the dogs are OBSESSED 😅🐶

Mine didn’t even eat hers like a normal ice cream — she grabbed it and immediately ran onto the grass with it like she’d won a trophy 😂

There’s a video up on my stories if you want to see the chaos.

Perfect for enrichment, cooling down, sensitive tummies and just generally making your dog think you’re the best person alive this week ☀️🐾

Normal service is definitely resuming over here 😅🐾

The freezers are full again, I had a BIG Naturaw delivery land today (so for everyone waiting on food or excited for restocks — it’s here 👀), the treat bar is stocked, and there are brand new treats on the shelves too.

And honestly… these new treats are SUCH a bargain for the quality 😍

Little fun fact for people that don’t know — Louis & Ada is actually Naturaw, so the quality behind them is absolutely insane. Proper ingredients, done properly, without the crazy price tag.

I’ve also had loads more chats this week about itchy dogs, fussy dogs, puppies starting raw, DIY feeding, bones, supplements and natural treats. No two dogs are ever the same and that’s what makes the shop so interesting 🐶

One dog walks in politely choosing a chew… the next is halfway into the pick-a-mix before the owner’s even shut the door 😅

Also loving how excited everyone’s getting seeing the new shop slowly come together. We’re getting there 🩵☀️

20/05/2026

Well… today was a bit of a disaster 😅💧

As some of you know, I’ve been dealing with ongoing building/plumbing issues at the shop behind the scenes while trying to keep everything moving forward as normally as possible.

Today, after works were carried out to restore the water supply, it unfortunately resulted in flooding inside the shop.

Just to be really clear — this is NOT a South West Water issue. The engineer who came out today was brilliant and did exactly what they were supposed to do. The issue is ongoing problems with the property itself that should have been resolved long before now.

Sadly some personal belongings stored at the front of the shop were damaged too — including photos and keepsakes that are really important to me — and I think that’s what properly broke me today.

BUT… amongst the chaos, there’s been some of your faces 🩵 I can't describe it.

One of the South West Water guys described me today as “a terrier” and honestly… fair 😅Because at this point, after tears, I’m absolutely determined to succeed despite every obstacle being thrown my way.

So apologies for closing early today — I will be back open tomorrow from 10am, even if things may still look mildly chaotic for a little while 🐾😅

Thank you for continuing to support me, support the shop, and honestly just being really good humans.

🐾 Itchy dogs… we’re definitely having more and more conversations about them at the moment.

And honestly, it’s rarely as simple as “just allergies.”

This time of year we often start seeing:
🌱 Seasonal/environmental allergies
🌾 Grass, pollen & storage mites
👂 Yeast flare-ups (especially ears & paws)
🍗 Diet sensitivities
🦠 Gut imbalance

One of the biggest things I try and explain is that where your dog is itchy can say a lot...

For example:
• Ears & paws can often point more towards yeast/environmental triggers
• Full body itching/tummy upset can suggest food sensitivities
• Red staining, strong smell or greasy skin can suggest the skin barrier is struggling

That doesn’t mean there’s one “magic fix” for every dog — because there isn’t. So I'll ask lots of questions, not trying to be annoying 😅 Every dog is different, and often it’s about looking at the whole picture rather than chasing one ingredient.

We’ve also had lots of chats recently about collagen. Collagen treats can absolutely support skin, joints and the gut lining, but they’re usually part of the bigger picture rather than an instant cure for itching.

And for dogs that seem more “hayfever” type itchy, ingredients like quercetin and bee pollen can sometimes be really useful natural support too.

In store we’ve got things like:
🐶 Vince the Vet Range
🐶 MSM powder
🐶 Rosehip
🐶 Quercetin treats
🐶 Bone broth
🐶 Natural skin support products
🐶 Omega oils
🐶 Natural chews & lower ingredient treats

…and lots of chats, label reading, and trying to work out what may actually be triggering YOUR dog 🩵

Also VERY excited to finally have the Dorwest range in stock 😍🐾
Lots of lovely natural support products have landed, alongside some other new bits in store, and I can’t wait to hear what you all think of them.

No pressure. No judgement.
No “one size fits all.”
Just support, ideas, and hopefully a bit of relief for itchy pups 🐶✨

A little reminder from me 🐾

There genuinely is no such thing as a silly question in this shop.

If you’re unsure about supplements, ask.
If you don’t know what to add to make a food complete, ask.
If you want a non-smelly treat because your car or living room already smells enough like dog 😅… ask.
If your vet has recommended a raw bone for teeth cleaning but you don’t raw feed, ask.
If all the brands feel overwhelming and you don’t know where to start… honestly, ask.

I never find it annoying. Ever. I'm a human before a business owner.

One of my favourite parts of being here is helping people work out what’s right for THEIR dog — whether that’s full raw feeding, adding a few natural bits in, better chews, supplements, bones, or just understanding labels a bit more.

Every dog and every owner is different.

And as the shop gets busier and busier, I’m quietly very grateful for how many of you have trusted advice.
Seeing dogs thrive, hearing your updates, and getting recommendations from happy owners genuinely means the world to me 🐶

So whether you know me already or you’ve never stepped foot in here before… come in, have a chat, and ask the question 🐾
