Herd wide zinc, B12 and cobalt deficiency, despite high zinc mineral feed (Camelibra) and oral mineral drench (Osmonds zinc, cobalt, B12 & selenium). We’ve tested alpacas from pregnant, males, growing, older, skin issue, no skin issue etc. all very low zinc. On 12 month old at 0.0. Not genetic, not lack of supplementation, not gut damage (eg parasite issue). We’re baffled. Any suggestions on cause?

The Annus Horribilis goes on. Luckily I am an optimist. Soon things will be better. By the way I mean the cria had been dead at least a few hours, probably not as much as two days.

Bullseye’s first cria is here and we had to use an umbilical cord clip (1st time in 30 years). Perdy is the mum and he’s called Spots.
