🌟 A big well done to Cleo, Rosie & Stanley who are all doing so well in class 🐾

🌟 Last nights class we worked on leave it & chin rest both valuable skills that can be transferred to real life situations 🐾

🌟 The biggest part of last nights class was doing some free work, letting the pups investigate & explore novel items and building confidence. Whilst the pups were doing this I added the distractions of a mop being used and a doorbell chime - which puppy doesn’t love to chase/bark at a mop being used! 🤣 but these guys learned to ‘leave it’ 🙌

Neutrality - the art of ignoring usual distractions. Learn the techniques to help your dog remain calm and focused on you.

⭐️ This workshop is open to all breeds and ages.

⭐️ All training is positive reward based, delivered by a fully qualified trainer with the IMDT.

📚 A great day of learning yesterday with leading trainers in the industry, Jo Pay from Standish Dog Trainer & Victoria Stilwell.

🐶 Jo gave a thorough insight into all things puppy! From choosing the right breed and then the minefield of selecting the right breeder, with insights of how to pick the right puppy from a litter. To then how to get the early stages at home right, with real depth of knowledge on socialisation 🐾

🐕 Victoria gave a deep dive into a new approach on dealing with reactivity, I have to say it really resonated with me and how we can truly help these dogs. Especially with my own experiences of life with Louis.

Thoroughly enjoyed the conference, it validated a lot of things. It’s always important as a trainer to always be learning, we don’t know it all, but we can always strive to be better than the day before 🌟

Was also nice to see other dog trainers that I’ve met before at other events and have a catch up, along with putting faces to names of other trainers that follow my socials etc ☺️

✨ A massive well done to Louey and Kaiya who both graduated from The Neutrals Club last night 👏👏

(Also not forgetting Luna, who was on holiday but will receive her certificate and rosette, when I see her on Life Skills in July ☺️)

✨ Team Louey, Team Kaiya & Team Luna have all done brilliantly over the last four weeks, learning new skills to remain calmer around other dogs and being able to focus on their guardians with distractions in the environment 🐶

🐕 During the course we worked on focus & engagement, impulse control, the art of doing nothing, along with some pattern games 🐾

🎓 Well done guys, you all did so well and improvements were definitely seen 🙌

🌟 We’ve been working on focus & engagement to improve his recall. Ralph has made some great progress, especially in his session last week 🐶

🌟 On our next session, we’ll put his learning to the test and see if he’ll recall away from another dog 🐕‍🦺

🌟🐾 Loose Lead Master Class 🐾🌟

✨ A massive well done to Belle, Boris, Marley & Ragnor who all completed the Loose Lead walking master class, they did themselves proud 👏

🐕 During the workshop we looked at the ‘WHY’ our dogs pull, we spoke about the benefits of a harness versus other equipment out on the market.

🐕‍🦺 We then worked on some engagement exercises, helping our dogs to learn that the good stuff happens when they’re next to us.

🐶 Then we worked on our pattern games, which resulted in nice slack leads with no tension and each team rocking a nice calm walk 🙌

Plenty for the teams to now practice when out and about. Well done 👏

🥚🥄 Loose lead walking with a difference 😂

✨ As part of the grade these guys have to loose lead walk for 200m, turning left & right, fast pace slow pace. Without using any treats.

🐕 Ralph’s 1-2-1 from a couple of weeks ago, working on not pulling on the lead 🫶

🐾 In this session Ralph learnt that if there’s tension on the lead, the direction either stops or changes. He picked up the game beautifully and to think we were in a busy park surrounded by distractions! 🐶

By the end of the session Ralph was walking beautifully alongside his guardian….. who says you can’t teach a spaniel to walk nicely without it becoming a game of tug!

💬 You don’t have to use aversive methods such as slip leads, choke chains or garote collars to achieve this. Its about building connection, being patient and most importantly consistency.

💬 Harnesses do not make your dog pull, its understanding WHY they pull in the first place and how to achieve the outcome you want in a way your dog understands.

Using positive reinforcement does work and it helps to build a behaviour that will last 🫶
