Huntingdon Hospital – Parking Update

Our Huntingdon hospital will be open as normal today for emergencies.

However, we will have some lines painted in our car park today, which means anyone attending the practice may be directed to alternative parking areas.

There are two gravel areas available for parking:

* 🚗 The gravel area outside the front of the practice
* 🚗 The gravel area around the back of the building

There are also alternative car parks nearby if you would prefer, although these are pay-and-display.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause today and appreciate your patience while the work is carried out.

Thank you for your understanding. 🙏

Meet Willow -

Willow came into our Huntingdon branch today for a nail clip. She was taken down the back so nurse Gemma and Abby could trim her nail.

She was the bravest girl and wagged her tail throughout!

At Cromwell Vets we are proud to provide our own out of hours for Huntingdon and the surrounding area.

We run our out of hours service from our Huntingdon branch with our team covering 24 hours a day 7 days a week 365 days a year.

What does that actually mean for you? It means no matter the time or day we will always be there for your pet. We will be on the end of the phone for advice and in person if you need to be seen.

This also means that if your animal needs to be admitted into our hospital there are Cromwell Nurses and Vets looking after them around the clock, ready to give them some TLC, monitor them throughout their stay and in some cases do emergency surgery no matter the time.

At Cromwell Vets we are always here for your pets.

Maggie went into labour Tuesday evening, she was able to pass a few beautiful babies at home before coming into difficulty.

After speaking to our team overnight, she presented to our Huntingdon branch, where our out of hours team were able to assess her and found she unfortunately had a baby stuck in her birth canal she was unable to pass.

As the day team came in for their shift they were able to work alongside our out of hours team to quickly get Maggie into surgery.

The Caesarean surgery was completed at 7.30am with the noises of babies squeaking being the perfect start to our day.

Maggie recovered well and was able to be collected a few hours later.

Unfortunately, one of the puppies was a little weaker than the rest and wouldn’t suckle on her own. Her diligent owners quickly brought her in and she was admitted for intensive nursing. Including warming in an incubator and placing a feeding tube allowing her to be fed by our nursing team. She reacted well to this and later that evening she was able to go home.

Following a few bottle feeds from her owners she is now suckling and feeding well from mum.

We know Maggie is going to be a great mum!

See the lovely photos including one of our night nurse Kirstie keeping her close to her babies whilst day vet Kate induced her for surgery.

Cromwell Cardiology service

We are very lucky to have Rebecca a Vet who has worked at Cromwell's for over 10 years who has completed a Certificate in Cardiology.

Rebecca runs our Cardiology clinics on Wednesday mornings. During these clinics she is able to run a variety of tests on our patients hearts including:

- Echocardiograms (A detailed ultrasound of the heart)
- Electrocardiogram (ECG)
- Holter (A wearable device that monitors the patients ECG for 24-48hrs)
- Blood pressure checks

These are usually ran as outpatient clinics with the aim to limit any stress in our heart patients.

The photo shows Lucy loving the attention whilst having her heart scanned.
