🐾 PEOPLE SOMETIMES ASK WHY I STOPPED MOBILE GROOMING 🐾

Believe it or not, I actually used to be a mobile groomer, travelling from house to house grooming cats in their own homes.

So when I say I prefer working from a dedicated salon, it's because I've actually done both.

And there's a reason I stopped. 👀

🧼 HYGIENE

This was probably the biggest deciding factor for me.

When you're travelling between different households with grooming equipment, bags, towels and tools, it's much harder to maintain the same controlled level of hygiene.

Fleas, flea eggs and other unwanted hitchhikers can easily travel on equipment from one home to another.

In my salon, everything is thoroughly disinfected between appointments. Blades and scissors are cleaned and sterilised, and at the end of every working day the salon is disinfected and treated with a pet-safe flea spray as an extra precaution.

When I worked mobile, achieving that same level of hygiene on the move was much more difficult.

🐈 A PROPER GROOMING ENVIRONMENT

My salon is set up specifically for grooming cats.

I have a sturdy, pet-safe professional grooming table, specialist equipment, proper lighting, temperature control and everything I need immediately to hand.

There's also far less household distraction. No doorbells, children running through, dogs appearing, hoovers starting or general household chaos halfway through a groom. 😂

For many cats, a quiet and predictable environment makes a huge difference.

🐾 STRICTLY ONE-TO-ONE

I don't have several cats booked in and waiting their turn.

There are no holding kennels and no conveyor belt of animals coming through.

Your appointment is entirely for your cat.

👀 AND YES, YOU CAN STAY

One of the advantages people associate with mobile grooming is being able to stay with their cat.

You can do that here too!

Most of my clients actually choose to stay and watch the groom, and they're more than welcome to.

You can see exactly how your cat is handled, how they're behaving and what's happening throughout their appointment.

🏠 WHY I WOULDN'T GO BACK

Mobile grooming certainly has its advantages, particularly for cats that hate travelling.

But having worked both ways, I personally found that a dedicated salon allows me to provide the clean, professional, calm and controlled environment I want, while still offering the same personal one-to-one service.

I'd rather bring the cat to the professional environment than try to bring the entire professional environment to the cat. 🐈‍⬛✂️

And that's why I chose to stop mobile grooming and work from The Pampered Panther Feline Grooming Studio. 🖤

🐶🛁 NEW! MONDAY DOG GROOMING WITH JAMIE 🛁🐶

As most of you know, I don’t work Mondays... because even I occasionally need a day where I’m not covered in somebody else’s pet hair. 😂

So, I’ve decided to hand the salon over on Mondays to my 18-year-old son, Jamie, who is learning the ropes and gaining hands-on grooming experience as my apprentice. 🐾

Jamie will be offering basic dog grooming and maintenance appointments at very reasonable apprentice rates.

Appointments will include:

🛁 Bath & shampoo
💨 Blow dry
🪮 Thorough brush-out
👂 Ear cleaning
✂️ Nail trim

Please note: Jamie will NOT be clipping, styling or cutting coats at this stage. These appointments are purely for washing, drying, brushing and general maintenance while he builds his skills and experience.
