We've all heard it before: "they're great when they come to the training class but totally different once we're out and about".

That's why I'm a big believer in training in real everyday environments, so that we practice the skills you need, where you need them.

For Bracken’s last training session we met at the stunning Cannon Hall Country Park, to practice around those very real distractions: geese, ducks, kids, bikes, dogs … the list goes on! Reliable training isn't just about training halls and private fields, it's your everyday environment where you and your dog will spend most of your time. Bracken was a superstar!

Remember Obi? He just finished his Puppy Package with me, and he also came along to my Puppy power course and is a regular at Training Club sessions. Obi is awesome little dog and his fantastic family are all (including his fantastic junior handlers) incredibly invested in his training!

I love getting to follow a dog’s journey as they grow, and I’m looking forward to some training walks or day school sessions with Obi soon.

We all know how important it is that kids and dogs in the household, have a great relationship with each other. Here's me starting young🤣
The summer holidays are fast approaching and I'm thinking of running some daytime midweek workshops during the summer, specifically aimed at kids having fun learning with their dogs.
These would be small groups,held indoors, looking at things like fun tricks with a little bit about dog care and safety in there too.
A parent or guardian would need to be present with each child as well.
You would need to have trained with us before in class or one to one and obviously dogs would need to be comfortable (and manageable) around other dogs, kids and adults to attend.

Now the weather is finally warming up, are you taking your dog swimming?

Whether you’re hitting the beach, river, or reservoir, do be prepared for the dangers of cold water swimming, and understand that it can be a lot more tiring for your dog than you (or they!) might recognise. Take lots of breaks and for the real water lovers, know that a floatation jacket can be a fantastic investment to let your dog enjoy more time in the water safely.

What did we get up to at Training Club this month?

We worked on progressing some all important foundations (settle on a mat, loose lead, and positions) as well as a bit of something new with the Emergency Stop! We also made a start on some foundation scent games to introduce some low key options in preparation for the hot weather forecast ahead ☀️

Guess who got a treat delivery from the awesome ! We love our natural chews and Jenga loves to get to open them (yes i monitor her, no she never eats the paper).and choose one for herself. After all they are for her! Our dogs spend so much time fitting in with our world, I always think it's nice to let them have a choice whenever they can and what better way to do it than with an awesome tasty chew at the end. Here's to a quiet evening🤣🤣 Jenga went straight for the lamb tube,what's your dogs favourite chew?
