The rescue will be back open for admissions in the next couple of days and I’ll post an update on some of the hedgehogs that we have got in rescue 🦔💙

Happy Sunday everyone 🦔

I’ll be a bit quiet this week as I’ve abandoned ship and gone on my holidays … The rescue is still manned by the more than capable volunteers and Louise is heading things, so all hedgehogs in our care are well looked after..

Some hedgehogs have still been admitted via our vets and I am answering messages where possible, however we will be closed to general admissions until 7th September..

A massive shout out to all of the volunteers and fosters. I have always said this is teamwork and it absolutely is…

Both the volunteer and transport network are amazing and I couldn’t do what I do without them 🤗💕🦔💙

I love to see these videos of the first steps when hedgehogs are released..

This is Milo, who was initially hand reared by Beth from being a tiny baby..

When Milo came into rescue, he was weak, covered in flystrike and a very poorly boy…

But look at him now 🥹

We want to say a huge thank you to Drew and the team at The White Hart, Denby Dale. For hosting last night’s quiz to raise funds for the rescue …

We came away from the evening with a fantastic £400… From the sale of the tickets, the football cards at half time, one of our volunteers, George who was at the quiz, donated her winnings to the rescue and Louise was on form flogging hedgehog merch 🦔🙃

This little boy came into rescue on Sunday from Ingbirchworth.. Found out in the daytime, cold, with flystrike, very wobbly from severe dehydration and feeling very sorry for himself …

After a couple of nights in an incubator and with supportive fluids, he was feeling much better..

P**p sample tests reveal the usual suspect of roundworm, we will deal with that now that he’s a little more stable 🦔💙

Afternoon everyone

We have about 10 hedgehogs looking for a home… these little ones were either born here or came in with their mothers at a very young age..

They absolutely 100% need visiting hedgehogs to be present now and someone who will support feed for as long as they are around ..

The self admitting hoglet ….

So, if you follow our posts you’ll know that we have recently admitted 3 hoglets from the neighbours gardens..

Knowing that there was obviously a disturbed nest (most probably next door to me, where my lovely friends and neighbours live), we asked everyone to look out for more hoglets…

Hoglet number 4 was found on Tuesday and then confusion reigned …

Julie, one of our volunteers was cleaning out on Wednesday and almost swept up a hoglet!

So, panic stations, was this a baby that had been miscounted? Accidentally put on the floor? (That would never happen by the way!)..

After all investigations completed, paperwork double and triple checked, no missing hoglets etc, it was confirmed by camera, that this little lady made her own way into rescue, walking through the fence, turning right and straight in the open door 🫣..

I am guessing that she followed the scent of the wild hedgehogs….

We have a few visiting hedgehogs here, both Aggy and Holly in particular, who are rescued hedgehogs that we have released here over the past few months and one of which is, I suspect this hoglets feckless mother 🫣..

So, please welcome this very clever little lady, who I’ve named Aly 🦔💕
