Welcome to Mac 🦔 (short for macchiato ☕️)

Mac decided to walk into Cupushi Coffee in Mirfield yesterday morning …

He wasn’t looking for coffee and a cake sadly, he is a poorly little boy, thin and with again a high parasite burden, Mac has started treatment today …

Thank you to the owner of Cupushi, for keeping him safe and bringing him into rescue 🦔💙

Olive …

Last week I was contacted by Donaldson’s vets as they had admitted a young hedgehog with a badly broken leg, which needed amputation..

They asked if we would be prepared to take her on and of course, I said “absolutely”💕

Olive’s operation was successfully carried out later that day and she was picked up and brought into rescue by one of our volunteers..

The following day I had a call from the lovely finder who had picked Olive up initially and taken her into the vet. She very kindly offered to pay for Olive’s operation, which I said was really not necessary as I had given my word to cover the cost… although of course, I was happy for a contribution..

Yesterday I received this lovely card and a cheque to cover the full amount of Olive’s operation 💕🥹

Thank you so much, both Olive and I are very grateful for the support 💕🦔

And…. another baby, this little boy had a lot of ticks when brought into rescue 😢

He was found on Barnsley Road, Flockton. If any of our Flockton followers could please keep a look out for more hoglets in the area, I’d appreciate it 🦔🦔🦔

Chilly start to the day today 🥶

A little update for you… do you remember Autumn 🍂 who was found in a park in Leeds? He had a pr*****ed bowel which needed to be cleaned and replaced under anaesthetist..

Look at our boy now 💙🦔

Autumn now weighs over 750g and will soon be ready to be released, (when we can find him a good release site and night time temperature dependant…)

Happy Friday everyone

Say hello to Boo 👻

Boo arrived last night from Millhouse Green and was absolutely covered in flystrike and fleas..(I have never seen so many fleas on one hedgehog 🫣)

Boo received sub cut fluids on arrival as he was very dehydrated and cold ….Then began the long process began of removing the flystrike and fleas…

We had to keep stopping for a rest because Boo was getting tired, I was getting tired and it was getting late..

I did have to give Boo a bath in the end and the red colour you see, is actually Boo’s blood from the flea dirt.. (he will be treated for anaemia)

Boo was very tired and weak when I went to bed and I did fear the worse if I’m honest..

Every 4 hours he was given supportive fluids and I was very pleased to see his little face at 6am this morning 💙👻

Boo has got a high parasite burden (no surprise there 🙄) and we will start to tackle the problem when he is stable enough to tolerate the medication ..

We are desperate for clean newspapers, no magazines please and ideally without staples ..

If anyone has any, we would really appreciate it is you could leave in the drop off box at the side of the rescue ..

Thank you 🙏
