Shelley Hedgehogs Rescue, Rehabilitate and Release ..

Can I please ask that you DO NOT leave hedgehogs at the house without prior arrangement with either me or Louise..

The rescue is closed this week and so there is no one there to admit - if you leave a hedgehog at the door, it could be hours before it is found!

I know that everyone wants to help, but we have to do this in a coordinated way to get the hedgehogs the help that they need 🦔

A huge shout out and thank you to Beth, who has been up every hour of the night trying to save these babies …

They are trying to be independent and refusing hand feeds.

There are no more fly eggs and maggots on them…and that took Beth hours to remove!

We are still guarded about their future, but we are giving them their best shot 💕🦔🦔

4 baby girls … first clean out and mum is doing a fabulous job…Another mum that is very chilled out … (unlike Sara 🫣🦔🤓)

2 babies slipped through the door this evening …

Both had been found alone during the day, in Ossett

Two little girls, which were cold, dehydrated and covered in flystrike. One hoglet has a swollen and bloodied face, I think that she may have been picked up by something …

It was a balancing act to try and warm them up and also get the fly eggs off quickly before they hatched ..
We took as much as we could off them, but already the eggs had started to hatch into maggots 😢

These babies still have their eyes and ears closed and are now with Beth, who is continuing their care..

Good evening everyone

It’s been a busy day today again taking in poorly hedgehogs ..

First clean out time as well for a mum and her two babies, a boy and a girl … mum is doing an amazing job and is quite relaxed, unlike Sara who will run at you and bite you as soon as you open the door to clean the p**p and put fresh food and water in! 🫣

Well, June already! Where is the year going? 🫣

Another busy day again yesterday with hedgehogs arriving down Morley, Brighouse, Ossett and Deepcar..

This little baby was the last to arrive after being found out on her own ..

She was cold, dehydrated, covered in flystrike, fleas and ticks. She had ticks between her tiny toes and her ears and eyes, which were not yet open, were full of fly eggs 😢

Beth came and helped clean this little lady up and took her home to be with another little boy that arrived late on Saturday night 🦔

If you find a hoglet, time is of the essence, please find a rescue as soon as possible and please do not try and feed 🦔
