Wednesday walks 🐾💜

We’ve had some very handsome special guests joining us over the last two weeks — the Golden Brothers, Klaus and Rodney! 🐕🐕

They’ve been absolute stars and it’s been lovely spending time with them. They are so cute.

Alongside our special guests, we’ve had plenty of lovely walks, happy faces and brilliant dogs enjoying their adventures.

Like many people, I was heartbroken and sickened by the recent reports of a dog owned by a group of men in Paddock, that was left to suffer, beaten, abused, and left in a car with no ventilation in 28 degree heat. The dog was put to sleep after he was rescued by police and after concerned neighbours raised the alarm, MULTIPLE times.
No animal should ever endure that kind of cruelty.

It has affected me deeply, not just because I work with dogs, but because I see every day how much trust they place in us.
They don't get to choose who owns them. They don't get to walk away from bad situations.
They depend entirely on the people around them to keep them safe.

Our dogs trust us with everything.

To them, we are their family, their safety, their routine, and their whole world.

Life can change. Ill health, financial struggles, moving home, family circumstances, sometimes keeping a dog is no longer possible. There should never be shame in asking for help when that happens.

But please, don't simply just give your dog away to anyone.

Take the time to make sure they are safe. Speak to breed rescues, reputable rescue organisations, vets, or experienced people who can help find the right home. Ask questions. Check references. Make sure the person taking them understands the commitment they are making.

A dog cannot tell us when something is wrong. They cannot choose where they go. They rely entirely on us to make the right decisions for them.

And if you ever believe an animal is being neglected, abused, or mistreated, please don't look the other way. Report it. Speak up. Do something.

Animals cannot advocate for themselves. Sometimes their safety depends on ordinary people being willing to act.

They deserve nothing less.

☀️ Hot Weather Update ☀️

With high temperatures forecast for Thursday, walks could potentially be affected.

As always, your dogs' safety and welfare come first. Conditions will be assessed closer to the time and a decision will be made based on the temperature and how safe it is for the dogs to be out.

If walks cannot go ahead, home visits will be offered instead, with priority given to dogs that are home alone.

We have alot of dogs booked in for Thursday so ill be working out the logistics and contacting customers directly.

Thank you for your understanding.

Any questions do get in touch.

IMPORTANT: Parvo Virus outbreak - Huddersfield

I have been made aware of a parvovirus outbreak in the Huddersfield area, and I wanted to share this to help keep our local dogs safe.

🐾 What is parvovirus?

Parvovirus is a highly contagious and potentially fatal virus that attacks a dog's digestive system and immune system. It can spread through infected dogs, their faeces, and contaminated ground, as well as on shoes, leads, clothing and food or water bowls.

⚠️ Symptoms to look out for:

• Severe vomiting
• Bloody or severe diarrhoea
• Extreme tiredness or weakness
• Loss of appetite
• Fever or low body temperature
• Signs of dehydration

🐶 Puppies and unvaccinated dogs are most at risk, but any dog can become infected.

❗ If you think your dog may have parvovirus, contact your vet immediately. Early treatment can make all the difference, so don't wait to see if they improve.

✅ Keep your dog's vaccinations up to date.
✅ Avoid areas where infected dogs may have been where possible.
✅ Pick up after your dog and clean shoes, leads and bowls regularly to help reduce the risk of spreading the virus.

As someone who spends every day out walking dogs, the health and safety of every dog in my care will always be my top priority.

Stay safe,

Jen 🐾
