Booking is now open for our Scentwork Foundation series at Brockholes in Huddersfield.

Always wanted to learn more about Scent work? Looking for something new and fun to do with your dog? Looking for something to utilise your dogs amazing sense of smell? Looking for something you can do just for fun, or for sports like Scent Ops and NNA?

You can either book the full series (6 sessions, £185), or book one module at a time (2 sessions, £65). This course is aimed at beginners, or teams who would like to revisit foundation steps for stronger fundamentals.

🐾Module 1: Beginnings: Motivation and understanding the search.

🐾Module 2: Building skills: Indication, basic searches, odour value & handler skills.

WHEN? August 3rd and August 17th 6.30 to 7.30 pm

Meet our latest accredited TrackStars™ Instructor: Katie Weston!

Katie is a qualified dog trainer working in Mid-Wales at Puppy Plus Training and Behaviour Services, she is a member of PACT and ABTC registered. She lives on the southern edge of Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park with her parents, and two dogs. Nellie is a quirky Border Collie, highly independent and loves anything to do with scentwork and tracking. Connie is a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever who will turn her hand to just about any kind of training.

Katie has a very analytical mind, a must for solving dog training problems! She also has years of teaching experience. Katie taught in various schools all over Sheffield before a move to Wales led to sharing her home with her parents and two collie-cross rescue dogs, Gwen and Meg.

Attending the TrackStars course was part of Katie’s continued passion for all things Scent Detection. She competes with both her dogs in National Nosework Association Trials, Nellie achieved a top 5 placing in the overall league in 2025. This year Connie has started her competition journey and was winning Foundation Trials aged just 14 months.

She loves teaching dogs and their humans the power of sniffing to build their connection, and never tires of watching a dog’s body language as it tries to decode a scent puzzle. Working through the TrackStars levels with Nellie as part of the Instructor course has given both of them a great deal of enjoyment and she’s so excited to bring that joy to more teams.

We are still buzzing after our Chillingham Castle event — nearly three months ago! But we’re already planning the next one for March 2027, and we can’t wait to see what all our dogs and handlers accomplish.

Our summer 2026 Scentwork foundations series could be just what you’re looking for.

6 sessions, held over three standalone modules. Suitable for beginners.

🐾Module 1

Two instructors for the whole series to help make sure there's loads of time for everyone!

These sessions will be held at our Brockholes indoor venue in Huddersfield.
Each Module is £65, or you can book all 3 for £185. Spaces are very limited (4) and dogs must be comfortable working in close proximity to other dogs and people to attend. Priority will be given to those booking all three modules . Booking for all three modules is live now, booking for the individual modules will go live on Saturday.🔥🔥

Today was the final practical day of the final block of our 2026 TrackStars ™️ instructor course, and what a fantastic few days it has been.
Huge congratulations to Katie & Nellie who even managed to fit in their final TS3 track, meaning Katie has completed all elements of the course and is now an accredited TrackStars instructor. We are so excited to have you on board and will do a proper intro very soon.
Really well done to Lindsay and Eddie as well who are well on their way.
Massive thanks to everyone who volunteered their time yesterday to come along and have a TrackStars session with our Instructors in the afternoon, you and your dogs were brilliant and all gave it 100% inspite of the slightly odd weather!

A small snapshot of the dogs and handler teams who worked on our Advanced Tracking workshop recently!

We had a lot of fun challenging these dogs with variable terrains and obstacles, putting not only the dog’s tracking to the test but also pushing the handlers to think about problem solving on the go.

Fantastic work from all teams, including those not featured here!

Whether your dog is training for tracking, trailing, mantrailing, TrackStars, or sports tracking, this workshop gives you the opportunity to get individual, tailored training from our Instructors!

As this workshop is for participants to work on their own specific area of tracking scentwork, it is suitable either for those starting out, novice, or advanced dogs and handlers.

Limited spaces ensure a small training group to allow for lots of time with our instructors to ensure you get the most from the day.

Anna & Charlie have recently gained their TS1 title 🥳 and this is what they have to say about Trackstars™️.....

Trackstars ™️

Charlie is a young spaniel and everything in the world is amazingly exciting for her, everything is done at 100mph. We were already doing scentwork training when we saw the introduction to Trackstars and decided to give it a go. The first exercise was to sniff a sock in a bag (a challenge for a dog who spends her life collecting socks and running off with them). Next up, go and point to the sock a few feet away. Again, a challenge for a dog with a sock fe**sh. Gradually we increased the distance to the sock, then asked her to sniff and track to other people’s socks. To my surprise she took to it straight away. When asked to track she would shoot across the enclosure to find the article and (mainly) point to it without picking it up. We’ve continued to work on tracking, roping friends and family in to lay tracks for her to follow and we’ve gradually increased the distance and complexity of the tracks. The focus has always been on having fun so there has never been any pressure on either of us. Charlie absolutely loves having her tracking harness on and I love watching her little face saying “come on, keep up” as she tracks to whatever article she’s finding today. Having the option for awards has been a bonus for my competitive side too - we can do them as part of our routine practice with no pressure.

Trackstars has been a great introduction to tracking, another activity for Charlie and I to do together keeping that “working” part of her brain ticking over and occupied.
