Who says a nurse appointment has to be stressful? Meet Finn, who decided the exam room floor was the ultimate spot to lounge! 🐾💤

While some pets prefer the table, Finn made himself completely at home right on the floor for his check-in today, showing everyone just how relaxed a clinic visit can be. We love a cozy king!

More and more dog owners are having success with anxiety snoods around fireworks season. Do you use one for your dog?

Here are some other tips for dog owners;

💥 Put loud music on or an action film. Start it before the fireworks, as once an anxious dog has heard them, muffling the noise tends not to work.

💥 Allow your pet to hide if they want to, don’t try to force them to get over it. Create a little den they can go into and hide.

💥 Use a thunder shirt or make a homemade one with a scarf (there are lots of YouTube videos).

💥 Feed them early, a frightened pet will likely not eat.

💥 Take your dog for a long walk in the day, to burn off some energy and help them snooze more in the evening.

💥 Lead walk anxious dogs as they could run away from you, if they hear fireworks and avoid walking your dog later in the evening when fireworks are more likely to be set off.

💥 Place trainers on a cool setting and put them in the tumble drier, before fireworks start and run them throughout the fireworks display. Animals pick up on the booms of fireworks not just the sound and this method replaces those bangs.

💥 Check that your dogs microchip is up to date. In the event your dog does spook, you’ll be reunited far quicker if your details are correct.

💥 Get in touch with your vet. They can offer advice on calming sprays, natural calming supplements or if required medication, to help them through these stressful periods.

Salem is extra special—she was born with no tail, which just makes her the cutest little bobtail adventurer you've ever seen! She handled her checkup like an absolute superstar and charmed everyone in the clinic.

It can be confusing to know what to do if you come across a stray dog. Sometimes it may seem as though veterinary practices don’t want to help, but we really do.

As a veterinary practice, we have a responsibility to help where we can, while also following the law and protecting the health of the animals already in our care. Some of our patients may be very poorly, very young or elderly, and bringing a dog with an unknown vaccination and health status into our kennels, could potentially put these vulnerable patients at risk.

This is why it is important that stray dogs are dealt with through the appropriate local authority and dog warden for the area where the dog was found.

This doesn’t mean we don’t care. We absolutely do, and we want to help make sure every stray dog gets to the right place and has the best chance of being reunited with their owner.

The dog warden service for Horley is handled by Reigate and Banstead Borough Council.

IMPORTANT: The local authority responsible is the one covering the area where the dog was FOUND, even if the dog has since been taken somewhere else.

Look who stopped by for a post op check! Meet Winnie and Teddy, the absolute sweetest Pomeranian puppies.🐾✨

These two absolute angels were on their best behaviour from start to finish. We couldn't resist snapping this picture of them sitting side-by-side on the table, looking completely adorable and handling everything like total pros.

Wishing these little cuties a speedy recovery and plenty of cuddles at home! ❤️️🩺

🎇 Can you help?

It’s coming up to that time of year where we like to help pet and livestock owners be prepared as much as possible, for any firework displays that may happen nearby.

We do this by putting together a list, which we then share in local community groups and to to do we need your help.

If you know about or are planning a display please share the details with us. Even if you are planning a private display, you can message us in confidence and we will not share any of your details OR your exact location, just a general location.

The more we can pre-warn pet and livestock owners, the more they can be prepared.
