This is exactly why we refuse to de-mat dogs. One painful groom can set an animal up for a life time of hating the process.

A couple of small tangles here and there can usually be safely trimmed, and loose dead coat can often be brushed out. But when a dog is heavily matted or pelted, the kindest and safest option is to clip the coat short for their comfort and welfare.

Thankfully, in the UK, it is illegal to brush or comb out matting for prolonged periods, with guidance limiting this to 15 minutes. Unfortunately, many owners—and even some groomers—aren’t aware of this.

In 8 years of grooming, I’ve never had to turn a dog away. Every decision I make is based on what’s safest, kindest, and least stressful for pets. Their comfort and welfare will always come first. ✌️🐾

Super excited to be welcoming Lindsey to the team at Red Dog Grooming! 🐾

Lindsey is currently studying for her Level 3 Dog Grooming qualification and is excelling throughout her course. She’s thoroughly enjoying her training and is looking forward to qualifying.

For now, you’ll see Lindsey helping with bathing and drying our furry clients, as well as working behind the scenes on our social media.

A few fun facts:
🐶 She has two dogs of her own, Lulu and Lady.
✂️ Before starting her dog grooming journey, she previously worked as a fully qualified hairdresser.

We’re delighted to have Lindsey on board and can’t wait for you all to meet her! ❤️

Always such a pleasure to see this good boy. He’s a real gentleman and so well behaved for his grooms.

They do take around 3–4 hours with plenty of breaks though — hard work when you’re a 60+kg doodle! 🙈
