🌿 With the heaviest of hearts… saying goodbye to our dearest Eddie 🌿

It’s been such achingly bittersweet weeks. Coming home from our honeymoon to the most heartbreaking news: we lost Eddie—my favourite girl, one of our original three—suddenly and unexpectedly 💔

If you knew Eddie, you knew she was one of a kind! Naughty, cheeky, full of sass and spirit—always up to something, making us laugh, utterly unforgettable. She had the biggest personality and captured my heart from the very start 🤍

In the saddest twist… this is the same dear girl who struggled to feed her little one at birth. So now her beautiful baby Clover is back in our care, needing to be bottle-fed every few hours. Clover is bright, strong, and hungry—but she’s missing her mum, as are we 💔

Meet little Clover. She was born 7 days ago. We didn't think this little lady would make it.
She didn't feed for a good while, which is normal. But as we got to 4 hours, we did start to worry. Eddie wanted nothing to do with her. Biting and kicking her away. It is vital cria receive colostrum from mum, as they are born without anti bodies. They can become susceptible to infection. We tried desperately to milk Eddie and give the cria as much as possible. After several phone calls to the vet, and with no plasma transfusion available, we decided to bottle feed her. She was fed every two hours.
Her and Eddie were penned in to bond. Clover took the bottle right away. It was a sad sight seeing them penned in, with the expectation of losing Clover anyway, we decided to put her with the rest of the herd. Clover refused bottles, it turns out she had been feeding from Eddie!

We're still not sure how long we'll have this little one, but while she's here, we'll keep her as comfortable and happy as we can 🍀

Still waiting for Eddie to give birth, we thought she would be ready at least two weeks ago!
All cria are looking and growing well. Already turning into tiny terrors! I love it 😀

It looks to have possibly been a little traumatic.

Mum & cria had a good night. Both appear bright and well this morning. Baby is up and about enjoying her milk 😊
