What’s on your tv tonight? 😉 A wee trip to today for a laparoscopic ovariohysterectomy and intracorporeal sutured gastropexy in a 62kg St Bernard cross. This is the fully laparoscopic form of a gastropexy with no external suturing as in the “assisted” approach. There isn’t really a size limit, either high or low for laparoscopic surgery in dogs. It’s more a question of will and skill. The lovely yet enormous Dolly was up and walking around ten minutes after the procedure finished.

I have always enjoyed teaching and mentoring other veterinary surgeons whether in general practice or with more specialised skills. Perhaps with twelve years of minimally invasive/ laparoscopic surgical experience in advanced techniques under my belt, I must be of some use! I recently spent a day continuing a programme of teaching and support in laparoscopic neutering techniques to their surgeon.
