After years of being caged up this beautiful Staffordshire bull terrier is free ! Thanks to the love and care of her new owners !
At 14 years old life is now getting better !
Her newly adopted family are doing everything in their power to make life happy and healthy !
I have had the privilege of looking after this family’s lovely dogs and you have at last landed on your paws !
struggling with mobility issues largely due to her confinement in past years and her age .. amazing on first visit ! .. jumped into our hearts !
Hydrotherapy suits all Dogs and often owners worry that because theyre older they might not adjust or they might find it too difficult,
But all dogs are taken very steadily at a pace that they can cope whilst swimming and also in recovery days thereafter
All dogs are diligently checked in the pool via Heart/pulse rate testing and a programme written specifically for them !
Different breeds can vary differently with the level of exercise that they can cope with , age and clinical condition also

Gorgeous Gunner a 5 month old Fox Red Labrador !
Much loved and cared for by his super attentive and diligent owner who has always restricted Gunners exercise and exuberance! With a veterinary referral we are starting a course of Hydrotherapy to help Gunner
As Gunner is experiencing some lameness issues .. and as such a young exuberant pup it’s difficult to keep him calm ! mentally and physically he’s full of energy so hydrotherapy will help stabilise joints ..through muscle building and release energy!
hydrotherapy is totally non weight bearing , no stress to his young joints !
Whilst as correctly so his exercise is limited “ on land “

What Are Growth Plates and Why Are They Important?
Growth plates are soft areas of cartilage found at the ends of the long bones in a puppy's legs. These plates are regions where new bone cells are produced, allowing the bones to grow in length as the puppy matures. Over time, the growth plates gradually harden and fuse, becoming solid bone. This process is called growth plate closure.

Before they fully harden, the growth plates remain delicate and susceptible to injury, especially from excessive or high-impact exercise. Damage to growth plates can lead to improper bone development, resulting in deformities such as bowed legs, irregular gait, or long-term joint troubles. For example, injuries between the ulna and radius bones in the forearm can cause uneven bone growth, which affects the puppy's movement and quality of life hence Hydrotherapy for support!

Privileged to have assisted Freddie along with his loving owners and pro Hydrotherapy vet , who through Hydrotherapy has given Freddy and his owners the avoidance of surgery !

🐾 So grateful for the amazing hydrotherapy at Haven. Freddie had cruciate ligament damage and we honestly didn’t think he’d ever walk normally again — in fact, we feared much worse 🥹. Thanks to Karen’s dedicated regeneration plan, her hard work, care, and consistency, she has completely transformed him. We have our vibrant, happy dog back and he’s enjoying brilliant fitness again.

A huge thank you to his dog walker Kelvin at Appledore dog walking and pet minding, as well to his vets for their forward‑thinking approach in recommending hydrotherapy over surgery. Freddie is thriving, happy, and walking so well, and we couldn’t be more thankful. 💙🐾

Love fitness conditioning!
Although we would normally discourage a launch in !, Chilli is due to compete in a Tridog competition !
80 m swim which needs a confident entrance into lake
3 km bike ride with owner and 2-5 km run to finish
Chilli a working type Labrador who has endless energy is a fantastic successful competitor with her uber fit “ Mum “ !
Chilli 1st place is yours I know it !
All dogs heart /pulse rate tested whilst swimming to ensure correct consistency to build muscle and cardiovascular conditioning
Looking for conditioning fitness for Tridog/cannicross/ultramarathon /flyball /Agility /IGP training or showing !

Spangle just 15 months old (approximately) rescued by her loving owner has come to Hydrotherapy
Spangle is very nervous but with her owners love and support Spangle is beginning to love life ! Hydrotherapy
Is safe exercise for young dogs to prevent joint damage whilst they are growing!
Also to burn off some steam! Releasing behavioural tension too !
And as spangle is a very very nervous Dog her loving and wise owner is opening her up steadily to new experiences & meeting new people
Spangle has only had two Hydrotherapy sessions and already we are getting on just great!
People can be very anxious about their Dogs attending Hydrotherapy
if they are rescues or nervous, fearful or even aggressive /fearful aggressive ..
But Hydrotherapy is open to all

Little Archie’s story is below this post .. a great result but with historic orthopaedic issues ,arthritis will be sadly its partner , so although doing well Archie is back for a short intensive course two years later
( without issue we are delighted to say ! ) for strengthening and toning exercise ,
he is beginning to feel /show weakness in his knee action so Hydrotherapy will help stabilise and strengthen ligaments/tendons and joints for conditioning and his comfort!
Before any further deterioration.
Well done Archie and to your loving & forward thinking owners !
(Just love Archie’s “ punk “ hair ! )
