Do you have any spare old newspapers we could have? We use a lot here at the zoo and we’re running a bit low. If you can, please drop some off at Holmes Chapel Zoo, Twemlow Ln, Holmes Chapel, Crewe CW4 8DS and our animals will be ever so grateful!

How’s your week been? We’re as busy as ever at the zoo, but we always make time to judge our animals’ behaviour and declare them either a Star or a Scamp in our eyes 👀 Have a look at who we’ve nominated and see if you agree!

⭐ Star of the Week ⭐
Prickly Stick Insects!

We caught one of our lovely ladies lunching on some bramble leaves 🍃 Yum yum!

🤨 Scamp of the Week 🤨
Jelani, the African Spotted Eagle Owl…

No, that’s not him. He’s hired a skeleton statue to do his job. Look closer… 🕵️

We’re starting to feel spooky here at the zoo, keep an eye out for some scary decorations over the next few weeks! See if you can spot any pretty pumpkins, spooky skeletons or wonderful webs hanging out 🎃 💀

He’s got the safari hat, the binoculars and an important mission: find the meerkats.

Nobody’s told him there’s one right there. 😂

Meet Indiana Bones, keeping watch over our meerkats. He’s only half the explorer he used to be, but full marks for enthusiasm! The meerkats are still deciding whether he’s a fellow lookout or just overdressed. 👀🐾

🎃 Come and find Indiana and his bony friends this October for friendly Halloween fun for the whole family, with pumpkins, silly skeletons and animal adventures to make you smile.

Enjoy a couple of hours together, with animal encounters, keeper talks and our wallaby walkthrough all included in zoo entry.

Term time: T–F 11am–3pm | Weekend 10am–4pm
Half term, 24 Oct–1 Nov: open every day, 10am–4pm

🤠💀 There’s a new sheriff in town… and he’s already been caught on the web! 🕸️😂

Meet The Bone Ranger! With no trusty steed in sight, he’s saddled up on a fallen log to keep law and order in the paddock.

Unfortunately, a giant albino spider is creeping up next to him. All those legs, and still nobody’s offered him a lift! 🕷️

Can your little deputies spot him when you visit?

🎃 Round up the family for friendly Halloween fun at Holmes Chapel Zoo, with cheeky skeletons, pumpkins and animal adventures to make you smile!

A small zoo with a big heart ❤️

Holmes Chapel Zoo is a friendly, family-run zoo in the heart of Cheshire, offering a more personal and interactive way to meet and learn about animals.

11/10/2026

Greetings, zoo fans! Every week we share with you the animals that have impressed us with their good behaviour, as well as those who have disappointed us by being a bit cheeky 🙈 This week, we have chosen…

⭐ Star of the Week ⭐
Hissing Cockroaches!

We caught one of our roaches post moult, where they are a gorgeous white colour! 🪳

🤨 Scamp of the Week 🤨
Smudge, the Guinea Pig…

We don’t know what Raz did to deserve this telling off, we think Smudge is being harsh 👎

Did you know we have 14 Guinea Pigs? As well as Smudge and Raz, we have Maple, Jelly, Strawberry, Pickle, Pumpkin, Little Berry, Blue, Goji, Goose, Cinnamon, Sugar and Pepper! As part of our mini experiences at the zoo, you can even come in with the keepers to give one a cuddle 🤗 If you’re interested, just ask at the entrance at the start of your visit if there is any availability for Guinea Pig Cuddles 🥰
