‼️Disease alert - not just a snotty nose‼️
Cases of Strangles have been confirmed last week in our area and there are increasing cases of Equine Influenza, with a total of 105 laboratory-confirmed outbreaks have being identified across 50 UK counties since the start of April 2026 (data from Equine Infectious Disease Surveillance) we need to act to avoid infection.
All the usual biosecurity is important, especially if you compete. But, vaccination will provide protection and prevent serious disease. Vaccinations are not just for competition, they are to protect your horse or pony against serious disease.
Call us now to get booked in to commence vaccinations for Equine Influenza and Strangles - after all vaccination is an insurance policy you hope never to need to test. Or phone for more information on preventing infection in your horses and ponies.
If you are vaccinated already for Equine Influenza, although the vaccine can be boosted up to 365 days for competition, immunity decreases markedly after 6 months and if you go our and about, boosting this vaccination at 6-8 months would be prudent.
And, if your horse or pony has a snotty nose similar to the attached picture, get in touch urgently for necessary treatment and diagnostics.
