Wagalot Dogs We offer Dog Day Care and Home Boarding services for your 4-legged besties. Your dogs live with us, That's exactly what we offer. Carol

We when you have to go away and leave your furry friends you want to know that they are enjoying 5๐ŸŒŸ service and a home from home environment. We are a licensed home boarding business for dogs. Your pet will come to us with their food, bed and favourite toys to enjoy great walks, long naps and lots of cuddles, plus the fun of being with other dogs. Not only do we want your pets to have a great time with us, so they can't wait join us again, but we want you to relax and enjoy your time away, or your busy day without worrying about your dog. All sounds great, but what about the practical stuff:

1. I am licensed by North Herts DC NHANI/6015 and their animal welfare team are happy to give me their highest 5๐ŸŒŸ rating https://onlinepp.north-herts.gov.uk/registers/index.html?fa=licence_register

2. I hold insurance which covers us during your pet's stay with us for: boarding, walking and transportation.

3. I am a fully qualified Canine First Aider L2, which means while I'm a 'first responder', I also know when to refer to your vet, should your dog get ill. We offer a very personalised service. So before your dog visits us for the first time, I'll meet you with my own dogs, for a walk. This is to check that the dogs get on and so that I can start to learn about you and your pets. Depending on your dog's temperament I may suggest we start with a half day or full day before we consider an overnight. This works really well for younger dogs and particularly those who might be a bit nervous. For more confident dogs they may not need this and be happy to just check in with their food and bed, knowing they will have great fun. Hopefully that gives you some information about our services. But don't just listen to me telling you how great we are, check out our reviews

If you'd like to discuss your dogs' requirements then please do not hesitate to drop me a message.

๐Ÿ• Has your lovely puppy turned into a barking teenager?

Does it feel as though your dog has suddenly found their voice?

Perhaps they're barking at other dogs, people passing the house, or seemingly nothing at all. It can be frustrating, exhausting and sometimes embarrassing, especially when the neighbours can hear every woof!

But excessive barking in teenage dogs isn't always simply a training problem.

Fear, frustration, unmet needs and over-arousal can all play a part. Understanding why your dog is barking is an important first step towards helping them.

I've written a new blog explaining the common reasons teenage dogs bark excessively and what you can do to help. Read the full blog here

Remember, your teenage dog isn't necessarily being naughty. They may need a little help navigating this challenging stage of development.

What's the biggest barking challenge you're facing with your dog at the moment? ๐Ÿ‘‡

If your dog struggles with ๐ŸŽ‡๐ŸŽ† ... one thing you can do is to distract them with Scent Work.

If youโ€™ve not done much scent work, then have them search for very high value food rewards, making the search criteria simple at first.

You want them to succeed.

Give it a try today and let them experience the fun of searching for treats before fireworks start.

Has your teenage dog experienced fireworks yet? ๐ŸŽ‡

You might think that because your dog was fine with fireworks as a puppy, they'll be absolutely fine this year.

But adolescence can bring unexpected changes, and some dogs develop sensitivity to loud noises as they mature.

๐Ÿพ Panting, pacing or struggling to settle
๐Ÿพ Hiding or seeking you out for reassurance
๐Ÿพ Trembling or becoming unusually restless

These can all be signs that your dog is finding fireworks difficult.

The good news? There are things you can do to help make fireworks season more manageable.

I've put together 7 practical ways to help your adolescent dog cope with fireworks, including creating a safe space at home, adjusting walk times and using simple enrichment activities.
