🐾 How often should I get my dog's nails trimmed? 🐾
It's a question we get asked regularly, and the short answer is… it depends on the dog!
Just like us, every dog is different. Dogs who do less walking or running may not naturally wear their nails down as quickly, while older dogs can sometimes develop thicker nails that are harder to wear down or trim.
There's no set schedule that suits every dog, but there are a few things you can look out for at home that may indicate it's time for a trim:
🐾 Nails touching the floor when your dog is standing
🐾 Clicking sounds when walking on hard floors
🐾 Nails beginning to curve around
🐾 Changes in the way your dog stands or walks
🐾 Dew claws becoming long or curling towards the pad
We know nail trimming can feel a little intimidating! The position and length of the quick varies between dogs (and even between individual nails!), so we completely understand if you'd rather leave it to someone else.
