Three months in a restored sandstone farmhouse on five acres just outside Warwick, with kangaroos dropping by and Christmas in the Aussie sunshine.

Bonnie and Clyde run the place. Brother and sister British Shorthairs, seven years old, both silver tabbies. They flew back from the UK with Cheryl last year, so they're proper Aussie cats now.

The house is a real country retreat. A wood burner in the lounge, a covered veranda made for long summer evenings and sunsets worth staying up for. The Wi-Fi's good enough to work on and there's off-street parking too.

Warwick's known as the Rose City and town is seven minutes away, with everything you need right down to indoor and outdoor pools. Toowoomba's 45 minutes, Brisbane's two hours. In between there are wineries, mountains and waterfalls to explore.

This month’s award goes to Ivy, a sleek black cat who took it upon herself to keep a very close eye on the fish. Not one of them got up to anything without her knowing about it.

Supervising the pond from the best seat in the house, day in day out, she took the role extremely seriously. The fish have never felt safer, or more watched.
