THIS IS NOW EXTREMELY URGENT
I am concerned what will happen if I can't get this poor pup sorted today.
Ralph's owners of 4 days standing spent yesterday trying (so far unsuccessfully) to find a boarding kennels to take him. They cannot cope and need him gone. They are NOT bad people, just an older couple who did not realise what they were taking on. I need to make YOU realise what you will be taking on, albeit with our full support, but the day-to-day will fall on your shoulders and should not be underestimated:
At 9 months old, Ralph is totally untrained, so behaves very much like an 8 week old puppy both in and out of the house. He is extremely stressed (understandably given his history) and is constantly pacing, whining and barking, unable to rest. He is hu***ng his owner's (of 3 days standing) other dog and it is difficult for them to disengage him from this. He is jumping at shadows. He is unable to be walked at all at present, as he is terrified of other dogs (unsurprisingly). He presents with a significant escape risk (he's trying to scale a barbed wire fence). He is going to present a lot of challenges, similar I think to a puppy farmed dog who basically just wants to get away/escape. This is a highly traumatised large (30kg) pup, running on adrenalin and in many ways in survival mode, who now desperately needs a calm foster home where he will be given time and space to decompress before we can commence a gradual programme of training.
I spoke at length the his current, transient, owner yesterday. She is desperate for help, but also deeply compassionate and desperate to do the right thing for Ralph. She stressed repeatedly that he is NOT a "bad dog", that they have caught glimpses of the lovely, sweet boy he in fact is beneath the fear and stress, that in between the hu***ng (likely stress related) he and their female doodle are having brief periods of play. This is going to be an absolutely cracking dog for a family who are prepared to put the work in to helping him to get over his traumas, to become the dog he was always meant to be.
We expect Ralph will need to remain in foster (with our full support - and we cover all expenses) for a few months before we can consider him ready for adoption. His foster family can then apply to adopt him, if they wish (and we very much hope, for the sake of this poor pup who has already experienced far more trauma than most dogs thankfully do in their lifetimes, that this will be the outcome)
Please complete an application form if you feel you can provide this beautiful boy with the home environment he needs to begin his recovery and transformation. There are a few more details on my previous post, so please do read that.
This is the link to the application form (you do not need to request edit access, this is for admin) https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1JdYYz0Qr3aEs6JR4kfNjAISNwfx86Mxrh6qtR4b2KkQ/viewform?edit_requested=true
PLEASE READ MY PREVIOUS POST BEFORE COMMENTING. AS YOU CAN IMAGINE, I AM VERY BUSY TRYING TO GET THIS PUP SORTED AND I HAVE PROVIDED ALL THE INFORMATION I HAVE ON THIS DOG CURRENTLY. UNLESS YOU HAVE PREVIOUSLY FOSTERED FOR US AND CAN HELP THIS DOG, PLEASE DON'T MESSAGE ME IF YOU HAVEN'T FIRST COMPLETED AN APPLICATION FORM. THANK YOU.
