BOWIE BEAT CANCER🎈🎉

It has been a rollercoaster of a journey but we couldn’t be happier to announce that after being diagnosed with renal lymphoma in November 2025 and completing intensive chemotherapy treatment, 7 year old Bowie has now officially been declared IN REMISSION💘

It has not been an easy journey for Bowie, for the team and especially his owner but he never gave up and so neither did we💪🏼 Even when he was at his worst he would push through and give a tail wag when he greeted us and we couldn’t be prouder of him❤️

A tremendous amount of dedication from Bowie’s owner has got him through the last 7 months and there is nothing better than seeing Bowie boy bounce through the doors and back to his normal self🥹

Here is to a new start as he enters his older years🥂

🐾 Helping Your Pet Heal Naturally with PRP Therapy 🩺✨

Did you know that Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy can help support your pet’s natural healing process?

PRP uses a small sample of your pet’s own blood, which is processed to concentrate the healing platelets. This is then injected into the affected area to help reduce inflammation, encourage tissue repair, and support recovery🩸

PRP may benefit pets with:
🐶 Arthritis and joint pain
🐱 Tendon and ligament injuries
🐾 Muscle injuries
🦴 Post-surgical healing
💙 Chronic orthopaedic conditions

Because PRP comes from your pet’s own blood, it is a natural treatment with a low risk of adverse reactions. If your pet is struggling with mobility, pain, or a slow-healing injury, PRP could be an option worth exploring.

📞 Contact us today on 01953 600066 to find out if PRP therapy is suitable for your pet and help them get back to doing what they love❤️

📖 Every behaviour tells a story…📖

Every dog is unique, and just like people, they can experience fear, anxiety, frustration, or confusion😣 When unwanted behaviours develop, it’s rarely because a dog is being “naughty.” More often, it’s their way of communicating that something isn’t right💡

We work closely with AB Dog School - Dog Training and Behaviour Consultations on a referral basis for owners who want to seek support for their dogs and understand their behaviours better💪🏼

Alice has been working with the lovely Finn here, who struggles particularly with anxiety at the vets, however, during his consultation at the clinic you can see he quickly became comfortable with his surroundings🫶🏼

A qualified dog behaviourist looks beyond the behaviour itself to understand the root cause. Whether it’s reactivity, separation anxiety, aggression, resource guarding, or fear-based behaviours, they use science-based, ethical methods to help dogs feel safer and more confident while supporting owners every step of the way❤️

Seeking professional help is never a sign of failure. It’s a sign that you care enough to give your dog the support they deserve🐾 If you are struggling at home with any undesirable behaviours with your dog, contact us on 01953 600066 or email us at [email protected]📧

🥵🐾 Heatstroke can kill. Please don’t underestimate the danger to your pets in this extreme weather!

Dogs, cats and other pets can overheat much faster than we do, and heatstroke is a medical emergency.

⚠️ Watch for signs including:
• Excessive panting or difficulty breathing
• Drooling more than usual
• Lethargy or weakness
• Vomiting or diarrhoea
• Confusion, staggering or collapse

💧 Help prevent heatstroke:
• Walk dogs early in the morning or late in the evening.
• Always provide plenty of fresh, cool water.
• Keep pets in the shade or indoors during the hottest part of the day.
• Never leave an animal in a parked car, even with the windows open.
• Avoid intense exercise in hot weather.

If you think your pet has heatstroke, move them somewhere cool, offer small amounts of water, cool them gradually with cool (not ice-cold) water, and contact your vet immediately.

Let’s keep our animal family members safe during this heatwave. ❤️🐶🐱

🦔Hedgehog Awareness🦔

As we are out in our gardens enjoying the sun and hot weather more, we must be mindful of the wildlife that are still enjoying when the sun goes down☀️

This little one was brought in after being caught in a football net and unfortunately the netting was caught all around its neck☹️ Luckily we untangled him and he is now at PACT recovering and soon to be released again❤️

Please check any sports equipment when you’ve finished using it at the end of the day to protect the wildlife around and if able, pack it away to avoid any unwanted catches🫣

We have skin-credible news!!!🌟

Whether it be allergies, genetic/hereditary conditions, diseases etc. we know how stressful and worrying skin conditions can be with our animals🥺 Dermatology (specialised study in skin) can be complicated to understand and hard to treat so we would like to welcome our new Dermatology Vet, Alison Shearer🤩

Alison graduated from The Royal Veterinary College in 1988. She worked in general practice for 5 years, initially in mixed practice but moving to exclusively small animal roles after two years.

During this time, she developed an interest in dermatology and embarked on a training position as the Resident in Dermatology at the University of Bristol from 1993 to 1997. She gained the RCVS certificate in Small Animal Dermatology in 1994 and is a RCVS Advanced Practitioner in Small Animal Dermatology🎓

She regularly attends BVDSG meetings and international dermatology meetings and has a wide breadth of interests within dermatology, focussing on medical management of skin and ear disease in feline and canine patients. Alison will accept all types of dermatology cases including otitis externa, pododermatitis, allergic dermatitis, pruritic and non-pruritic alopecia🤯

We are so excited to welcome Alison to the team and we can’t wait to delve into the life of Dermatology!!!🎉

🐰 Support comes in all shapes and sizes🐰

Gut stasis is a serious condition that can quickly become life-threatening for rabbits. It happens when the digestive system slows down or stops, causing pain, loss of appetite, and dangerous digestive complications. Daisy here presented to us with a sudden acute onset of gut stasis and luckily came in with her support Teddy to comfort her during her stay❤️

⚠️ Signs to watch for:
• Not eating or drinking
• Smaller, fewer, or no droppings
• Lethargy or hiding away
• Teeth grinding from pain
• Bloated or uncomfortable abdomen

✅ Prevention tips:
• Provide unlimited hay
• Ensure fresh water is always available
• Encourage daily exercise
• Minimize stress
• Schedule regular health checks

If you have any concerns your rabbit may be experiencing symptoms of gut stasis then do not hesitate to contact your vets to receive potential emergency care🚨
