Our sabs do not just confront the illegal barbaric hunts in our efforts to protect foxes and other animals.

Sabs volunteer at sanctuaries and undertake rescues which can be both rewarding and heartbreaking at times.

In the meantime the hunting consultation closes on the 18 June 2026 and we remain hopeful this will finally bring an end to the anachronism that is hunting mammals with dogs. If you have not already please do have your say.

The Government has finally confirmed that all badger culling will end, including the last cull licence area in Cumbria. After 13 years and the slaughter of 250,000 badgers, at a public cost of £100 million, this tragedy is finally over. We must now ensure it never starts again under a new Government in 2029. Well done to everyone who took to the fields, marched in the streets and stood outside the Courts to end this cruel costly madness.

Honouring their pledge in the 2024 Labour Party Manifesto, the Government have opened a Consultation on Proposals to the Prohibit Trail Hunting in England and Wales.

This long overdue legislation is needed to close the loopholes that hunts have abused to carry on hunting wild mammals.

If you have suffered threatening / anti-social behaviour / trespass from the hunts and their followers, witnessed illegal hunting or had your pets or animals under your care, killed or attacked by the hunt this is a chance to respond.

We are aware that many people who attended Vegan Camp Out have discovered for themselves the true nature of the estate and the abundance of wildlife that call it home, contrary to the disingenuous “uninhabited woodland” claims of the organisers. People were very distressed to see badger holes blocked with wood and with cables running across them just yards from a stage. We also understand people who have raised concerns with VCO are met with indifference or blocked.

We would advise people to report their findings (especially evidence of blocked setts) at Report a wildlife crime | Hertfordshire Constabulary or to the Badger Trust Report dead badger, badger setts, accidents and incidents | Badger Trust so that action can be taken to protect the wildlife going forward.

It is absurd that an organisation claiming to promote veganism is obstinately refusing to engage with wildlife protection groups to protect local wildlife.
