I decided to start dog walking because being outside is what makes me happy and I have always loved dogs; Being around a waggly tailed dog is a sure way to make me smile! I have had dogs as pets since I was young and have walked our dogs most days from as far back as a being a teenager. I volunteered in an animal reprieve when my eldest son was a baby and a big part of this role was walking the dogs, as well as cleaning their kennels. Most of the dogs there were German Shepherds and so quite large. Due to being mistreated, they weren't very social, and this was an experience for me in learning how not all dogs are friendly with other people or animals, how strong these dogs are and how best to handle them. I have studied animal behaviour as a unit as part of my science degree and I am currently in the process of undertaking a dog first aid course, in order to be as prepared as possible if anything was to happen while I was out walking. Before booking your dog(s) in, I would require a meeting to familiarise myself with your pet and gauge their temperament and character. This is free of charge.
