Happy Bank Holiday All!

Just to note, the road to our Pirton venue is closed from the Pirton side; you can only access us via Holwell so please allow extra time when you’re travelling!

Please also note that you must use the car parking that is at the far end of the sand arena when you arrive. Please do not park alongside the sand arena as farm traffic needs access to the fields 🐾

Why choose us?

There are many trainers advertising their “expertise” in helping owners with their reactive dogs so it can be hard to choose the right one!

Here at RK9, Stacey has rehabilitated and rehomed over 150 malinois, herders and other breeds from being at risk of euthanasia, to living enriched lives in the right homes. Appropriate management and behavioural training are used in combination with over a decade of experience handling and training reactive dogs.

Stacey has been successfully working with clients and their dogs for several years to help manage, overcome and problem solve severe human and dog aggression issues, histories of redirection and reactivity and more!

OUT OF OFFICE

Meet Dobby the GSD

Dobby is approx 18months old, male entire GSD. He is nervous, and has a history of reactivity. It’s understandable he found his own job, when he wasn’t getting walked daily or the right enrichment due to owners failing health.

Since he’s been in foster this last month, he’s come along brilliantly. He settles super well in a kennel, and I believe he would in a home environment. Dobby will need a home that’s understanding he is anxious, and sometimes communicates that with grumbling and showing teeth, or he can be skittish. He really enjoys a quieter life, with an easy going walk each day, and some time to wander about the garden, he’s sometimes playful too, but doesn’t need much!

Rehoming fee and adoption agreement apply. All potential homes are checked and proof of ID and address is required.

Exciting news!

Our kennel license inspection has been completed, and we have been awarded a 3 star license

For a second year boarding kennel in North Herts, we can only be issued a maximum of three stars and a 2yr license, and his has been achieved 🤩

This means we can continue to offer kennel boarding for holidays, board and trains, board and enrichment, and more!

Once again, we have TEN spaces for boarding 🤩

The benefits of boarding with us?

- Council licensed and insured; meaning your own pet insurance remains valid too

- Highly Experienced with high drive working and sports dogs, including protection sports, detection dogs

- A history of successful rehabilitation of over 140 foster malinois, herders, labs and spaniels into working, sport and pet homes; and 100s of Board & Trains successfully rehabbed and progressed in training and behaviour change, including severe aggression, car chasing, dog reactivity and human reactivity

- our minimum package includes plenty of time outdoors, and the next step up, includes a daily off site lead walk, and an enrichment session, with the ability to add on additional training sessions, enclosed field runs, hydrotherapy, physio sessions, and more!

- secure site, with CCTV based in North Hertfordshire, a central location, easy to access from the M1 and A1

- on site secure dog field, dog garden and training arena

The difference with our kennels?

We will adapt our hours & routines where we can to suit the dogs 🐾 Tailor made boarding 🐾

This week, Stacey has been up and out at 0430 most mornings, and will continue to do so to get everyone exercised before it’s too hot. Today was a total of 8 x 40min walks, 23,458 steps, all before 1015!

Georgie has been covering the afternoons; ensuring the fans are all working, the floors are hosed and kept cool, and the dogs have access to the shady garden & sand arena for short periods before getting icy snacks (frozen kongs, goat milk lollies & more!)

Evenings this week are a combination staff covering 2100 walks or exercise, and last let outs up to as late as 2300!

We love the summer and love our job working with all the dogs - but a few degrees less would at least give us all a lie in 🤣🤣
