☀️ HOT WEATHER WARNING ☀️
With temperatures set to hit 32°C today and stay hot throughout the week, it’s extra important to help keep your dogs safe and cool 🐶💦
Here are some simple cooling tips you can do at home:
🐾 Avoid daytime walks – if possible, head out very early in the morning before the heat builds.
🧊 Try “goodie bobbing” – chop up your dog’s favourite hydrating treats and place them in a bowl of water for them to fish out and enjoy while get some extra fluids.
❄️ Cooling coats & bandanas – keep them topped up with cool water or pop them in the freezer before use.
🍓 Freeze their licki mats or colling toys – fill with dog-safe freezable treats, freeze, and let them enjoy a tasty way to cool down or wet their cooling toys and put them in the freezer for an extra cool game.
🌳 Provide plenty of shade and cool resting spots.
💧 Always make sure fresh, clean water is available.
🥕 Frozen carrots are always a hit!
🏖️ A small paddling pool can be a great way for dogs to cool off if they choose to.
🆒 Cooling mats are an essential to offer up - make sure they are in the shade.
⚠️ Watch out for signs of heatstroke including excessive panting, drooling, lethargy, vomiting, or collapse. If you’re concerned, contact your vet immediately for professional advice.
