🐾 A LITTLE REMINDER ABOUT IN-BETWEEN GROOMS 🐾

I’ve noticed a bit of an increase recently in dogs coming in with severely matted coats, very dirty sanitary areas and quite a lot of build-up around their hygiene areas. ❤️

Please know this post is not here to judge or make anyone feel bad — life gets busy, coats can change, and sometimes things simply get away from us. I completely understand! 🥰

But I do want to remind you why regular in-between grooming can make such a big difference to your pooch. 🐶✨

Leaving a dog for 8, 10 or even longer between grooms can sometimes allow matting to become severe, particularly on dogs with coats that tangle easily.

Severe matting can:
🐾 Pull tightly against the skin and cause discomfort
🐾 Restrict circulation to the skin underneath
🐾 Trap moisture and create an environment where sore areas and hot spots can develop
🐾 Make it more difficult for your dog to regulate their body temperature
🐾 Be particularly problematic for dogs with thick or double coats

And let’s not forget those sanitary and hygiene areas! Keeping the hair around these areas clean and tidy can help prevent urine, faeces, dirt and moisture from becoming trapped in the coat. 🧼🐾

✨ THAT’S WHERE MY IN-BETWEEN GROOM COMES IN! ✨

If your pooch doesn’t necessarily need a full groom yet, an in-between groom can help keep them comfortable, clean and easy to maintain between their main appointments.

Their session includes:

🛁 A thorough clean and freshen-up
🪮 A good brush through to help keep matting at bay
✂️ A sanitary & hygiene tidy to keep those areas cleaner for longer
👀 A face tidy, including trimming excess hair away from their eyes
🐶 General tidying where needed

Sometimes a little maintenance in between can make the next full groom so much easier and more comfortable for everyone! ✂️🐶💕

Just had the lovely Winnie in for her pampering session today. She isn’t the easiest to groom but she looks so much better once we get through it all. As you can see, she makes her self comfortable until it’s home time. Thanks for coming, Winnie. See you in 6 weeks. 🥰

🐾✂️ SO GLAD I DID MY LEVEL 3! ✂️🐾

Looking back, I’m honestly so glad I decided to complete my Level 3 grooming training. ❤️

Yes, it teaches you how to groom and style different breeds, but it’s so much more than just picking up a pair of scissors! ✂️🐶

You learn about handling dogs correctly on the grooming table, safe working practices, coat types, breed-specific techniques, equipment, skin and coat care, and so much more. You also learn little things that you might never even realise you need to know until you’re faced with them in the salon.

There is SO much you can teach yourself through experience, watching videos, practising and learning from other groomers — and that’s all valuable. But I’ve realised that there’s a lot more to grooming than you initially think, and having that proper foundation of knowledge makes such a difference. 🐾

I’d highly recommend Level 3 training to any groomer, whether you’re just starting out or you’re already working in the industry. You never stop learning, and there is always something new to improve on. 📚🐕

For me, doing my Level 3 has given me even more confidence in what I do and, most importantly, a better understanding of WHY I’m doing it — not just HOW. ❤️

Never stop learning. Never stop improving. And always keep putting the dogs first. 🐾💗

Just had the lovely Jeff in for his groom this morning. Typically I forgot to get a before pic, but how lovely does he look? I’m super proud of his groom. He looks like a teddy bear. Thanks for the visit, Jeff. See you in 6 weeks. 🥰
