🐝πŸ₯’ Pollinators come in all shapes and sizes! πŸ₯’πŸ

We’ve spotted another little helper hard at work in the greenhouse today, helping to pollinate our cucumber flowers. 🌼

When people think of pollinators, bees usually come to mind, but flies, hoverflies, butterflies, moths, and many other insects all play an important role in helping our plants produce fruit and vegetables.

Every visitor counts when you’re growing your own! 🌱😊

πŸ₯•πŸ˜‚ Our first funny carrot of the year!

This little carrot was grown from a seedling that was transplanted from a pot rather than sown directly in the ground. Safe to say it didn’t quite grow as planned and looks like it’s decided to sit down and have a rest! πŸ˜†

Not the prettiest carrot, but homegrown vegetables always bring a few surprises.

πŸŒ±πŸ«› Anyone got any good tips for harvesting peas? πŸ«›πŸŒ±

We’ve started harvesting our first peas from the garden and wow… the flavour is incredible compared to shop-bought ones! 😍

The only problem is they take a while to shell, especially when you’re standing there eating half of them as you go! πŸ˜…

Does anyone have any tricks or tips to make harvesting and shelling peas a bit quicker and easier?

Or is it just one of those jobs where you put the kettle on, grab a bowl, and enjoy the process? β˜•πŸ«›

Would love to hear how other gardeners do it!

πŸ“πŸŒ± The first strawberries of the year are ready! πŸŒ±πŸ“

There’s nothing quite like picking your own fruit straight from the garden. 😊

Our first strawberry is finally ripe, and it tasted amazing! Sweet, fresh, and definitely worth the wait. Now we’re just waiting for the rest to catch up. πŸ“β˜€οΈ

Growing your own food is one of the most rewarding parts of the Meadowtail Farm journey, and it’s always exciting when the first harvest arrives.

What’s the first thing you’ve harvested from your garden this year?

πŸπŸ’œ A little visitor in the garden today! πŸ’œπŸ

This bumblebee was making the most of our flowering chives, happily collecting nectar and pollen. It’s amazing how even the simplest herbs can become a valuable food source for pollinators. 🌿

One of the things we love about growing our own plants is seeing the wildlife they attract. Every flower helps support bees, butterflies, and other beneficial insects. 😊

What pollinator-friendly plants are thriving in your garden this year?

🌿 Looking for recommendations! 🌿

We’re starting to look at improving our product presentation at Meadowtail Farm and are interested in custom labels, stickers, packaging, thank you cards, and branded boxes similar to those shown in the picture below. πŸ“¦βœ¨

As a small and growing business, we’d love to find a local company that can help with professional printing and packaging in smaller quantities at reasonable prices.

Can anyone recommend a local business that offers:
βœ… Product labels and stickers
βœ… Custom packaging and boxes
βœ… Thank you cards and branding materials
βœ… Small business-friendly order quantities

We’re always keen to support other local businesses where possible. Feel free to tag companies below or send us a message with your recommendations.

Thank you! 🌱🐾

🐝🌿 Looking for a bit of advice from fellow crafters and beekeepers! 🌿🐝

We’ve started making beeswax wraps for the Meadowtail Farm shop and we’re really enjoying the process so far πŸ’š

At the moment we’re cutting the fabric using pinking scissors, but it can be quite time-consuming when making larger batches. βœ‚οΈπŸ˜…

Can anyone recommend a quicker way to cut the fabric while still getting that nice zig-zag edge to help prevent fraying?

We’re always looking to learn and improve, so any tips, tools, or recommendations would be greatly appreciated 😊

Thanks in advance! 🐝🍯

πŸπŸ’œ The bees are loving the comfrey today! πŸ’œπŸ

The comfrey plants in the garden are covered in these beautiful purple flowers, and the bees just can’t seem to get enough of them 🌸✨

It’s amazing to watch them moving from flower to flower, collecting nectar and pollen throughout the day πŸπŸ’š

Comfrey is not only a fantastic plant for the garden, but it’s also a great food source for pollinators, making it a win-win for wildlife and gardeners alike 🌿🌼

Seeing so many bees visiting is a great reminder of how important it is to include pollinator-friendly plants in our gardens πŸŒπŸ’›
