Rheo’s a cracking dog. His teenage brain just has other ideas. 😂

Session 2… Adolescence is well and truly kicking in, and those urges are getting harder for him to ignore!

The plan is to get him off lead, but we’ve got a bit of work to do first.

Today we had our very own Amber helping out, teaching Rheo that he can be around another dog without needing to get involved in everything.

We’re not trying to take away his natural instincts. Just helping him learn when to act on them and when to leave things alone.

Introducing the rules of structured play with Loki.

Play is the best tool for building motivation, engagement, a solid relationship, confidence and so much more!

Today’s lesson for Loki:

What does he have to do to win the toy? In this instance a puppy sleeve as Loki’s confidence was low and we wanted something he could grab and win easily.

We wanted Loki to actively fight for the toy through:

✅ pulling
✅ head shaking
✅ dropping his weight
✅ push bite

Then, when we felt real effort from Loki?

Give him the win.

We wanted to reinforce EFFORT, not just participation.

Because that’s how we create the feeling for Loki to understand:

That he did that.
That he was strong enough.
That he won.

Then happily BRING IT BACK FOR MORE.

The structure to the game we wanted to teach:

Fight for the toy.
Win it.
Bring it back.
Do it again.

Loads of play-based homework set this week 👌🏼

Something a little different today for Lulu

Today, we’re using the e collar thoughtfully to help build that awareness.

Teaching Lulu to follow the tone as a clear cue: disengage from what you’re focused on and move with her owner.

Timing, guidance and rewarding the right response all matter.

As her owner changes direction, Lulu’s learning to follow the tone as a precursor to movement and keep an eye on where he is going, with room to walk comfortably on a loose lead.

The goal?

Walks they can both enjoy, without a constant battle at the end of the lead.

Moose came in looking like a brand new dog today!

Fresh trim for the big guy… The downside?

Moose gets even more attention when spruced up 😬

About bang on where we want him to be going into the final week of his training, where we refine and polish the final few elements outstanding.

If you’re not smiling or laughing while training your dog, then what’s the point?

Down stays don’t have to be a boring exercise…

Always a way to throw in some creative distractions.

Elsa & Saffron in for a joint 1:1

Loads to work through with these two, in terms of their relationship dynamics and reactivity.

A ton of individual homework set for each dog.

Everyone sees the freedom. Not everyone sees the work behind it. ⬇️

Rocky and Moose have been putting in the boring stuff.

Structure, neutrality and plenty of repetition.

Because the more reliable your dog becomes, the more freedom you can safely give them.

And that’s what it’s all about!

Today, they got a taste of the freedom they’ve been working towards.

Getting some place work in with Lulu.

Busy one today for this one… Some work on pre loading her recall, some e collar conditioning and finishing up with adding some distance to Lulu’s place command.

Little one did very well today
