Dear Cheecho,

When I recorded this freedom ride for you, I truly believed you were going to your forever home here, with us, on Earth.
Little did I know this was only the beginning of your journey to finally rest in peace and go to your forever home in Heaven. 🥺🤍🌈

You impacted so many lives.
You showed us the power of a community coming together, and how much can be achieved when love and care are involved.

In less than 24 hours, so many people came together for you.
People who had never even met you donated to your care.
In just 16 hours, Cheecho, $17,000 was raised for you, my boy. 🥹

This was love.
This was people fighting for you when you needed it most.

For so long, you were the longest resident.
A dog who was almost invisible to the world.

But not anymore.
Now, you are seen, Cheecho. Everyone knows your name. You are not a shelter dog, you are an inspiration and you came to show us what love can do…

You came to show us that every life matters.
You came to show us what we can do together.
You came to show us that together, we are stronger.

My sweet boy, even though you are no longer here with us, I want you to know how deeply loved you were by every single person who heard your story.

Money couldn’t save you.
But you didn’t leave this world unseen.
You didn’t leave this world unloved.

You passed from this life into the next knowing that you were loved, knowing that you were cared for.

Maybe you held on just long enough to get your freedom ride.

And I will always believe that.

I will forever love you.
And we will never forget you.

I’m sorry this world was not kind to you for most of your life.
But at the end, we showed you that love still exists.

You were deeply loved.
And your life mattered.

And in your name… another dog who has been through so much like you have been saved. I will post his freedom ride next. His freedom ride only existed because of you 😭❤️🙏🏻

🎊🎉 IT’S PADME’S FREEDOM RIDE 🎊🎉
It is finally her day. She was finally the chosen one. 🥹

For so long, Padme was the one passed over. A black pit bull on the urgent list. Sweet, gentle, the best girl, but still no one has ever asked to meet her.

She came in as a stray with her puppy, Luke. She watched him get adopted. And when he left, she stayed. Still waiting. Still hoping.

But Today, everything changed.

Today Krusty and Stokes Rescue saw her. Because and Jacob opened their hearts once again. Today, Padme walked out of the shelter and into safety. Into a foster home. Onto a farm. Into a life where she no longer has to wonder if there will be a tomorrow.

But her journey isn’t over yet…

She is still waiting for her forever home. The one that will choose her every day for the rest of her life.

Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, to every single person who watched Ferda’s video, shared it, sent messages, called the shelter, or even showed up hoping to adopt her. More than 5 million people across all platforms saw her story, and the amount of love and support around this girl was overwhelming. It truly shows how powerful this community is.

Because of that village, Ferda found an incredible home. When Susan saw her video all the way from Florida, she knew Ferda was meant to be part of her family and that she was meant to help heal Ferda’s broken heart. She immediately asked her sister Amy to go to the shelter the very next morning to save her, while her wife Leah was already on the road making a six-hour drive each way. Leah picked Ferda up from Amy and drove her back to Florida, where she finally met her whole family.

She now has senior dog brothers, cat siblings, and a beautiful backyard overlooking a lake. They live close to the beach, where she will get to feel the sand and the ocean often. She is surrounded by love, patience, and joy. Her new family decided to rename her Astrid, believing that a new name could represent a fresh start and a brand-new chapter, especially since she seemed sad when called by her previous name.

Just when you think this family could not be any more amazing, Doc .torrance , who is also part of their family, showed up first thing in the morning to become Cheecho’s foster dad.

I also want to gently remind everyone to please lead with compassion and not judgment. Ferda’s previous family was completely heartbroken to surrender her. They tried everything they could and truly had no other option. They left a detailed note sharing her routines, her favorite things, her tricks, and how deeply she was loved. They also left a box filled with all of her favorite toys, which we made sure went home with her to Florida. She lived a very happy life and was deeply cared for. Surrendering her on New Year’s Eve was devastating for them.

Unfortunately, this is not the update and the freedom ride I was wishing to post for Cheecho. Yet here we are.

Before I explain what happened, I want to share how you can help. The GoFundMe link is in my bio. Today I received a call from Kim at BarkVille Dog Rescue telling me they had to rush Cheecho to the ER. This morning, while at his foster home, Cheecho suddenly started screaming in pain. He was taken to the vet right away, where X-rays raised concern for something neurological, and they were advised to rush him straight to the emergency hospital.

Cheecho is now being kept at the ER through the weekend and is on strong pain medications because he is in a lot of pain. Just keeping him there over the weekend will cost between $5,000 and $6,000. On Monday, he will need to see a neurologist and will likely need an MRI. They suspect a herniated disc and believe surgery may be necessary. The total estimated cost is between $13,000 and $17,000.

I know this is a lot of money to ask. But I refuse to give up on any dog, especially Cheecho. He came from a cruelty case and has already been through more than any dog ever should. I truly hope we can help him get through this so he can finally live a normal, happy, and loving life.

Chico is eight years old and was surrendered to the shelter on October 5th. He has now spent 89 days waiting, wondering, and hoping. We do not know much about his past because the person who surrendered him had only had him for a short time, which likely means Chico was rehomed before. That alone breaks our hearts. What we do know is that he is good with kids, incredibly sweet, and full of life. Chico does not act like an eight year old dog. He still has energy, loves his walks, enjoys playtime, and lights up for a simple butt scratch.

Since coming to the shelter, Chico has been struggling with some skin issues, including ear infections in both ears and a few areas of furunculosis. He has been receiving treatment, and thankfully, most of those issues have now resolved. Through it all, Chico has remained gentle, loving, and trusting.

He has watched other dogs through the fence and always looks playful and curious. If you have a dog, the shelter encourages a meet and greet so Chico can show you who he really is. What hurts the most is knowing that for 89 days, his life has been the same. About 20 minutes outside to play and feel normal, then back to his kennel where he spends 23 hours and 40 minutes alone. Every single day.

Chico is running out of time. He is on the urgent list and desperately needs a hero. All he wants is a safe place, a warm bed, and a family to love him the way he deserves. Please help us save Chico. Share him, talk about him, and if you can, come meet him.

Oxie is only 4 years old, 55 lbs, and the sweetest boy.

On 11/16, someone found him as a stray and was bringing him to the shelter. In the parking lot, Oxie was able to escape and ran toward the road. He was hit by a car, and the worst part is that the driver never even stopped to check on him.

Miraculously, Oxie did not break anything and did not suffer any serious injuries. He was left with tire marks, burns, and scratches, but he survived.

One of the officers asked if I could make a video for him because Oxie is one of her favorites, and she is really worried about him. Oxie tested positive for heartworm, and unfortunately, HW+ dogs are often the first ones to not make it when shelters run out of space.

If you adopt a heartworm positive dog at Cobb County Animal Shelter, they will cover the entire treatment. All you have to do is bring him back to the shelter for his appointments.

Oxie walks beautifully on a leash, is incredibly sweet and gentle, and absolutely loves playing with toys.

We do not know how he is with other animals yet, but he does not react to or pay attention to other dogs on his walks. If you are interested in adopting him, please bring your pets for a meet and greet.

I promised Oxie I would do my best to find him a family, and I promised him that all of you would help me. Can you help me keep that promise?

ABOUT HER: — Padme arrived at the shelter as a stray with her puppy, Luke.

Luke was just a baby, so of course he was adopted quickly. And just like that, Padme was left behind.

She is a black pit bull in an overcrowded shelter, and despite being one of the sweetest, most affectionate, and playful dogs there, she continues to be overlooked. I have walked Padme several times, and every single time she shows me the same thing. A gentle girl who loves toys, enjoys her walks, and just wants to be close to people.

Padme has met another dog through the fence and did great, but as always, bringing your own dog to the shelter for a proper meet and greet is the best way to see if it’s a match.

What breaks my heart the most is that Padme has never had a single application. Not one visit. Not one person asking to meet her. As the shelter keeps filling up with new dogs, her time is running out, and if she does not get out soon, the shelter may be the last place she ever sees.

There is a rescue willing to help Padme if someone can step up to foster. Fostering is completely free. The rescue will cover food, vet care, and everything she needs. All you have to do is open your home and your heart.

I promised Padme I would try everything I can to find her a home. But I cannot do this alone.

Will you help me keep my promise and give this girl the chance she deserves, either through adoption or foster?

When I arrived at the shelter today to walk my row, the first dog I met was Ferda. A five-year-old German Shepherd who had just been surrendered today, December 31st, on New Year’s Eve.

At first, she was hiding in the back of her kennel, unsure and confused. When I read her kennel card, my heart sank. Good with dogs, cats, and kids. House-trained. Crate-trained. Knows commands. The only thing she cannot live with is farm animals. Then I noticed the box sitting on top of her kennel, filled with all of her favorite toys that her family left behind.

But taking her outside is when it truly broke me. 😭💔

Ferda spent the entire walk searching. Every car. Every corner. Every sound. She could not focus on the walk or on me. She was looking for her family, trying to understand where they went and why she was left in such a scary, unfamiliar place.

Outside, I was able to connect with her just a little. She loves treats and takes them so gently. She knows sit and shake, and according to her notes, she knows many more commands like “down” , leave it” , “wait” , “off”, and “high five”. She gets along with cats, kids, and other dogs, but it does say submissive males or small dogs.

Watching her search for the people she loves in every direction was heartbreaking. She does not understand what is happening, and neither do I.

I promised Ferda that I would share her story, post her video, and ask the world to help me find her a new home. Please help me keep that promise.
