Early walkies this morning followed by afternoon drop ins with my regulars. Today to spice things up I popped to pets at home for some puzzle feeders and challenged all your pets and provide mental stimulation 🐾

It feels so good to be back with my pack after what felt like an eternity away! The welcomes I get from your pups always remind me that I’m exactly where I’m meant to be. ❤️

The last month has tested me in every way and given me a real reminder of the realities of being self-employed.

First came tonsillitis, followed by an allergic reaction to the antibiotics… resulting in 3 unexpected days off work.

Then I had 2 weeks off because Mason’s childminder was away and I couldn’t find alternative childcare, so annual leave it was.

My first day back? The van’s gearbox gave up. It had to be towed home (thanks Ollie!!), leaving me without a vehicle.

That was followed by 3 days of collecting parts and getting it repaired as quickly as possible so I could get back to work. Three more days with no income, plus a repair bill running into the hundreds.

On top of all that, I’d already reduced my client list and coverage area at the beginning of July to prepare for Mason starting school in September and to give us time to establish our new routine. Then July’s heatwave meant lots of walks had to be cancelled for the dogs’ safety, resulting in daily cancellations and even more lost income.

I’ve cried. I’ve laughed hysterically because sometimes that’s all you can do. I’ve questioned whether I’m making the right decisions and felt just about every emotion possible.

But today was a good day. Everything ran smoothly, and it finally feels like things are falling back into place.

Next month Mason starts school, and it feels like the beginning of a new chapter. I’m ready to build things back up again.

Small wins are still wins, and today I’m celebrating this one. ❤️
