☀️ Summer’s nearly here – and so are the fleas! 🐶🪳
With June kicking off peak flea season, it’s time to batten down the hatches and protect our pooches! These tiny pests love the warm, humid weather and will hitch a ride on your dog quicker than you can say “walkies!”
Fleas breed like nobody’s business in summer, turning your lovely dog into a five-star hotel and your home into their luxury spa retreat. 😬 Once they’ve moved in, it’s very hard to evict them – and trust us, flea removal doesn’t come cheap (up to £220 a pop!). Far easier to stop the blighters before they even arrive.
Here’s how to stay one step ahead of the jumpy little nuisances:
🐾 Use a vet-recommended flea treatment regularly (not just when you think there might be a problem).
🛏 Wash dog bedding frequently on a hot wash – think spa day but for hygiene!
🧹 Hoover like a mad thing – carpets, sofas, the lot!
🐕 Keep your pup away from wild animals and strays in known flea hotspots.
🏡 Choose well-ventilated kennels or rest spots that are easy to clean – no cushy corners for fleas!
Remember: fleas don’t just cause itchiness – they can lead to allergic reactions, infections, and even pass on tapeworms. Ew.
Let’s all stay flea-free this summer and keep our dogs wagging happily – not scratching madly. 🌼🐾

Ann-Mari soaking up the sunshine with Snudge, Buddy, and Stella on a beautiful spring stroll along Hastings Promenade! The sun was shining, the sea was sparkling, and the tails were wagging — what more could we ask for?

Nothing beats a fresh sea breeze and happy pups to start the day right. 🐾💙

📍🐶 Beach & Park Dog Restrictions – Check the Map! 🐶📍

To help everyone stay on the right side of the rules (and avoid a £1,000 fine! 💸), we’ve got a handy map for you! 🗺️🐾

🔴 Areas outlined with a dotted red line = No dogs allowed (beach ban in effect from 1st April – 30th September).
🔵 Areas outlined with a dotted blue line = Dogs must be on leads (this only applies to the southeast part of Alexandra Park – Queens Road end).

Let’s keep our paws on the right paths and enjoy our walks while respecting the rules! 🏖️🌳🐕

What better way to welcome Buddy than with a beautiful January walk along Hastings Promenade? On just his second walk with us, Buddy is already settling in so well—taking in the sea views like a true local!

Joined by Snudge, Stella, and another Buddy (because you can never have too many Buddies!), it was a joyful stroll in the winter sunshine. With tails wagging and paws trotting along the prom, it’s safe to say Buddy is already part of the gang.

Here’s to many more seaside adventures!

See you on the next walk, Ann

There’s nothing like a December morning in Alexandra Park especially with the autumn leaves. Ann-Mari had a lovely walk today with Stella, Buddy,Snudge, and Mocca, all happily trotting along and soaking up the crisp air.

The park was buzzing with cheerful walkers and wagging tails, and our happy pups didn’t miss a beat—unwilling to pose perfectly for some gorgeous snaps. Whether it’s summer or winter, these moments remind us how lucky we are to enjoy such beautiful scenery with our four-legged friends.

See you out there, Hastings Paws

New Dog Control Regulations for Hastings Beaches

I am excited to announce that starting April 1, 2025, dogs will be allowed year-round on Rock-a-Nore and Stade beaches in Hastings! This change comes after 64% of respondents supported lifting the restrictions in a recent public consultation.

To keep our beaches safe and enjoyable, there will be two dog exclusion zones:
From the west of the Harbour Arm to the east side of Hastings Pier.
From Warrior Square to Azur.
Until then, please keep dogs on a lead on the promenade, and remember that no more than six dogs can be walked by one person at a time.

A big thank you to everyone who participated in the consultation. Your input was crucial in making this decision!

As the nights start drawing in and the air gets a bit nippy (well, on most days – you never quite know with British weather, do you?), we’ve reached a momentous occasion on the Hastings dog calendar. Today, my fellow dog owners, is the last day of the summer beach restrictions! 🎉

That’s right, from tomorrow (1st October), our four-legged friends are officially free to dash, dig, and, dare I say it, roll in the sand all along the Hastings and St Leonards coastlines. Those areas from the east of Rock-a-Nore to the Royal Victoria Hotel – the ones we’ve been dutifully avoiding all summer – are now fair game! No more side-eye from the seagulls as we sneak along the promenade, hoping not to overstep our bounds. Winter beach privileges are in full swing! 🏖️🐾

So, dig out your winter wellies, grab those leads (or not, if your dog’s up for a proper free run!), and let’s head down to the beach. After all, it’s our turn to enjoy the sea air without restrictions.

Just don’t forget the poo bags. No one likes an on-the-spot fine with their beach walk! 🐕🌊

Big shoutout to our newest recruits, a Lakeland terrier and a Jack Russell terrier, Stella and Buddy, who just started their first week with us! Stella was, well, stellar—living up to her name in every way. And as for her partner in crime, Buddy? He was right there by her side, being the best buddy a dog could ask for.

Looks like we’ve got some real pros in the making here. Can’t wait to see what these two get up to next week!

I wanted to take a moment to welcome Rupert to our Tuesday and Thursday group walks! There was a little concern that Rupert, being a Covid dog, might have some trouble mixing with the other dogs, but I’m happy to report that he settled in immediately and got along wonderfully with everyone.

As we continue to advocate for our furry friends, Hastings Council has opened the link to hear your thoughts on a topic that affects many local dog owners: Should dogs be allowed on Hastings beaches? 🏖️🐶 Your opinion matters! Please take a moment to share your views and help shape the future of pet-friendly spaces in our community.

Let’s make Hastings a more dog-friendly community! 🐕❤

The council is carrying out a review of the dog controls for beaches. The public consultation sets out three choices for dog controls on the beaches in the east of Hastings – the Stade beach and Rock-a-Nore beach. There are three options below, we are asking people to chose their preferred option....
