Bold as brass to be honest so far so good💪

My good friend Ray made up his first Field Trial Champion with Suzie. I had sold her as an 8 week old pup but had her back in for a couple of weeks to do an assessment at about 6 months old, knowing she was available for sale I told Ray that I thought she showed real potential. Ray immediately purchased her and trained her from that moment. She was an extremely hard hunting bitch that thought heavy punishing bramble was ‘white grass’. I trained on Suzie’s litter brother ‘Rook’ who went across the pond at about 2 years of age. He had a successful trialling career and importantly sired five field trial champions in Canada with limited breeding. It gives me great pleasure to know that subsequently Rook by way of frozen s***m and artificial insemination was mated successfully to FTCH Shiveck Beretta of Deepfleet in Canada. This mating line breeds as Suzie’s dam OFTW Rosebay Fuschia of Deepfleet is also the dam of FTCH Deepfleet Van Persie who is the sire of Beretta (Tess). Fuschia was from a mating between FTCH Rytex Ragamuffin of Deepfleet and FTCH Rosebay Nectar.

The legislation was put through quickly and without proper consideration, ignoring the cross-party recommendations. I want to urge the new government to revisit the ban and to rescind the legislation and instead implement the previous guidance recommended by the committee put in place to look at it....

Perusing the RKC Field Trial Calendar for October I noticed in England relatively few Novice AV spaniel stakes but many (12) Novice Cocker Spaniel stakes. In the past it would have been difficult to fill the card for this number of NC trials but perhaps times have changed?

Deepfleet Elsie, Madge and Cobra now approaching 7months old had their first visit to marsh today and introduction to water. Don’t think that will be an issue 💪

I ran Renee yesterday in her first field trial at the Yorkshire Gundog Club Novice A/V at the fabulous rabbit ground at Stean, North Yorkshire. It was her first time being shot over proper rabbiting so I wasn’t sure how she would cope although I had no doubt about her hunting ability. In the end I was pleased with all aspects of her performance and ended the trial in second place behind a very classy dog and worthy winner run by Simon D.
