Does your dog walk to heel? What was your best training tip?

Mine will walk beautifully while constantly treating them. As soon as I stop this is what I get!

We have boxes of new treats going through the quality control process

Yesterday we walked at . The rain held off just long enough for our walk.

There was a height barrier to the car park meaning I couldn’t park the van but there was plenty of space opposite in a lay-by.

There were several signs saying dogs to be kept on a lead at all times due to the problem with dogs mess. I have to say we saw several poops that hadn’t been picked up by the owners 😡. It’s always the few that spoil it for the rest!!!

Nevertheless we had a lovely walk. We will definitely be back. ♥️

Yesterday we tested out and we were very impressed.
There was plenty of parking space and two, good sized, well kept fields.

Each field had a double gate so there was no chance of any escapees.

The fields were a mixture of long and short grass. Gaia loved hiding in the long grass. Plenty of space for free play, training, ball throwing, whatever you like to do.

There was a hut to keep you dry if it rains, fresh water and a clean, recently emptied poo bin ✅ ✅ ✅

Also I didn’t see one bit of dog poo while walking around 👏

We will definitely be coming back. It’s great to be able to train in a secure field #

When we were at the pub the weekend somebody (adult) threw a Conker to Gaia. As a puppy she would love that but it is a major hazard for her. I kindly asked them not to and gave Gaia a long lasting chew so she could settle.

1. Don’t interact with other peoples dogs without asking first.
2. Don’t give them things that they could choke on or could cause them harm!

Rant over 😆

AUTUMN DANGERS
As we move fully in to Autumn now we thought we’d just give you a heads up on the seasonal dangers for our dachshunds.

Acorns - contain a toxin which can cause vomiting and diarrhoea so watch out when walking under those oak trees!
Mushrooms- as a general rule if it’s toxic to us it’s toxic to dogs when it comes to mushrooms and mushroom 🍄 poisoning is not unusual in dogs. Symptoms can vary and it can lead to liver and kidney failure. Consult your vet if you are worried
Conkers - can cause intestinal blockage so make sure your dog doesn’t eat them!
Anti freeze- also known as glycol is a sweet liquid that your dachshund might like to
lick! Do not let them sniff or lick around in car parks, garages, boat docks or drives, anywhere where anti freeze might be found. Symptoms include vomiting, excessive thirst and unsteadiness and effect can be fatal. Visit your vet immediately if you suspect your dog has come into contact
Darker evenings and mornings - use reflectors and lights on you and your dog and check that they still work!
