🐾 Does your dog suddenly develop selective hearing when there's something more exciting going on?

A reliable recall is one of the most valuable skills you can teach your dog, giving them more freedom to explore while helping you feel confident that they'll come back when called. 💜

Join us for our Special Sunday Recall Sessions on Sunday 15th November, where we'll be working on building stronger, more reliable recalls through fun, positive, reward-based training.

Whether your dog needs a little refresher or you're struggling to get their attention around distractions, we'd love to help!

At Dixie Tricks Dog Training, we use force-free methods to help dogs understand what we’re asking of them and make learning something they actually enjoy.

Food, toys, praise and play can all be valuable rewards. By finding what motivates each individual dog, we can reinforce the behaviours we want to see more of while building confidence, trust and a positive relationship between dog and owner.

It’s not about forcing a dog to get it right. It’s about teaching them what we’d like them to do and rewarding good choices along the way.

Because training should be something you and your dog enjoy doing together. 💜

What’s in Your Training Bag? 🎒🐶

At Dixie Tricks we know that different dogs need different training… and with that different stimulation!

Make sure your training bag is full of your dogs favourite things to make sure you are the most exciting thing, no matter what environment you’re in 🐾

Progress doesn’t always look dramatic 🐾

Sometimes it’s simply:
• Walking past a dog calmly
• Settling quicker than last time
• Coming back when called the first time

These are the moments worth celebrating.

Small wins build strong foundations, and they show just how far you’ve both come.

Your dog doesn’t have to spend their weekends out in the field to enjoy gundog training! 🐾

So many of the skills we teach through gundog work are just as valuable for our much-loved family dogs.

Retrieving, recall, steadiness, impulse control, working around distractions and learning to engage with you are all brilliant skills for everyday life. And for breeds with those natural gundog instincts, it gives them an opportunity to use their brains and do something they were bred to enjoy. 💜

You don’t need ambitions of working or competing. You can simply come along, learn something new together and have fun with your dog!

At Dixie Tricks, we love helping family dogs enjoy the best bits of gundog training, in a way that works for real life.
