🎃👻 Spooky season can also mean a busy season for our pets! 👻🎃
With lots of parties, visitors, celebrations, costumes, doorbells and unusual noises, it can all become a little overwhelming — especially for our nervous or anxious fur babies. 🐾❤️
Here are a few tips and tricks to help keep your pets feeling safe, settled and comfortable over the next couple of weeks:
🏡 Create a safe space
Set up a quiet, cosy area where your pet can retreat if things get too much. Make sure they can come and go freely and have their favourite bed, blanket or toy nearby.
🔊 Keep things calm
Loud music, fireworks, excited guests and constant doorbells can be stressful. Keep noise levels as low as possible and consider some calming background music or TV.
🚪 Be mindful of the front door
Lots of visitors coming and going can be worrying — and an open door is an escape opportunity! Make sure your pet is secure before answering the door.
🧡 Let them choose
Not every pet wants to join the party. If they hide or want some alone time, let them. Never force interaction with visitors or children.
🎃 Watch the decorations & treats
Keep candles, decorations, sweets and chocolate well out of reach. Some Halloween treats can be very dangerous for pets.
🐾 Stick to their routine
Where possible, keep meals, walks, bedtime and other familiar routines the same. A little normality can go a long way.
Most importantly, listen to your pet. If they’re showing signs of stress, give them space, reassurance and time to settle. ❤️
Let’s make spooky season fun for us and safe and comfortable for our four-legged family members! 🐶🐱🎃
