I’ve always joked Hunters the dog I never knew I needed. When I received that message nearly a year ago asking for help with his 5 day old litter mates I never knew I’d be adding a GSP to the team. I was never anti the breed, I just didn’t need one having the wires. Oh boy is he proving me wrong! He’s so different to other GSPs I’ve worked with. He’s very much an old head on young shoulders and I’m still undecided if that’s him, his breeding or the way I’ve brought him up. We may get to test that theory next year but that’s a secret for another day! Today he’s put his head down and picked 3 brace on a very challenging day. The other dogs struggled and ran on with 50mph winds up their noses, struggling for scent, whereas he hung back methodically working the heather to claim his prize. He sits steady through the drive, walks to heel and for a young entire male doesn’t get distracted by other dogs. I was amazed by his instinct and natural ability. Somethings really clicked with him. I’m crossing everything for some good health test results soon. He’s turning into some dog!
