We are posting to remind our clients that we offer appointments 7days a week, every week, for your pets.
🐾 Monday-Friday 8.30am-6.30pm
🐾 Saturday 9am-3pm
🐾 Sunday 10-11am (Urgent cases only)

We are grateful to the lovely vets and nurses at Bishopton Veterinary Group who have provided veterinary care for your pets, outside of our usual opening hours, for the last 7years, meaning that your pet can be seen 24/7 in case of an emergency.
This out-of-hours service is typically from Bishopton's Hospital practice in Ripon, however this site is about to start some exciting refurbishments which are expected to take 4weeks.

This means that the out-of-hours service for our registered pets is *temporarily re-locating* to Bishopton's Thirsk Branch from TONIGHT:

Please bear with us all at this time. We are aware that this is slightly further for our registered clients to travel if needed out of ours, but this renovation work is to enhance the facilities for all of our pets and is only for a short time before normal out-of-hours resumes from Ripon.

CRAB LANE VETS: Your independent vets in the Harrogate area

Crab Lane Vets is a well established and independent non-corporate veterinary practice run by pet owning vets. We have been trusted by our clients to care for their pets for almost 50 years. We have our own pets - we know the importance of listening to our clients, being able to empathise with you and your pet and give you the information you need about your pet's health. We can explain what your pet's problem is, treatment options and likely outcome.

We are experienced veterinary surgeons with a range of complementary specialisms and post-graduate qualifications in medicine and surgery.

We have an emphasis on continuity of care; we try to follow up our own cases. We can pick each other's brains if we have complicated cases but continuity of care provides more job satisfaction for both the vets and the owners and a holistic approach to your pet's health.

We have qualified and experienced veterinary nurses.

Advanced Diagnostic equipment. We have onsite radiography, ultrasonography, endoscopy, electrocardiography and cytology - with the staff able to make use of these facilities.

Advanced Anaesthetic equipment. We have heated anaesthetic circuits to minimise heat loss in surgical patients & multiparameter monitoring devices - in addition to nurses experienced in theatre work. No monitoring device ever replaces a human being monitoring your pet!

Advanced Surgical equipment. We have plenty of surgical kit including the plates, screws, external fixators and power tools necessary for the regular orthopaedic caseload seen by our Advanced Practitioner in Surgery.

We have Dental x-ray and powered dental equipment for scaling, polishing, and where necessary sectioning teeth for easier extractions.

Appointment system from 9am-6.30pm weekdays, 9-11am and 2-3pm Saturdays.

Surgeries on Sundays & Bank Holidays for urgent cases (10am-11am).

We have been accredited under the RCVS Practice Standards Scheme since 2009 and recently celebrated 10 years of continuous ISFM Cat Friendly status.

Emergency cover provided outside of surgery hours.

We have many long-standing clients who have usually come by recommendation.

Our vets have no financial or sales targets, there is no hard selling or gimmicky marketing.

There is no overcharging for hidden items to make headline costs look cheaper.

Thanks to everyone who shared our post and helped find his family.

*Are you missing your cat?**

We have had a cat handed in today who was found on Slingsby Crescent, Harrogate and has no microchip.
Ginger, Male Neutered, looks an older boy, missing some teeth and has some abnormalities with his feet.
Please share and get in touch with us if you think he may be yours or know who he belongs to.
He is safe, warm, comfortable and and well fed with us at the moment.

ANSWER: Well, we gave you all plenty of time to think and can see that some of you guessed correctly but Smurf is indeed a....Blue Merle Shetland Sheepdog!

Some facts about Shetland sheepdogs ( 'Shelties')..
🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 They are a Herding breed originating from the Shetland Isles, small and hardy to thrive in the harsh conditions of these islands.
🐕 They were formally recognised by the Kennel club in 1909
🐾 They are small, often vocal(!) very clever, keen to please and are more often family pets than working dogs now.

We haven't done one of these for a while, so here is the adorable 'Smurf' when he came in for a health check recently.

Who knows what breed Smurf is? 🤔🤔
He is a pure breed , not crossbreed...

We shall tell you the answer in a few days and give you some facts about the breed!
