What a weekend!

After finishing a long day of volunteering at the RMA Commando Challenge in Lympstone, I didn’t get back to my hotel until 8pm. I then faced another five-hour drive, picking up a friend in Chester before heading to Windermere for my 2-mile swim challenge.

Unfortunately, a combination of exhaustion, traffic delays and a wrong motorway turn meant I arrived too late for my swim wave. Instead of the planned 2 miles, I was only able to take part in the 1-mile event.

Even that proved tougher than I expected. The 16°C water, strong winds and choppy conditions made it difficult to settle into a rhythm. From the moment I entered the water, I was battling the cold, numbness and constant shivering. I managed to complete the mile, but I knew I wouldn’t have been able to safely continue for a second.

The following day, I wanted to attempt another swim to make up the distance, but unfortunately I wasn’t allowed to. Not wanting to waste the opportunity to challenge myself, I headed into the Lake District and hiked Helvellyn instead. While it wasn’t part of the original plan, it was an incredible experience and a memorable way to finish the weekend.

A special mention has to go to my two furry besties, who joined me every step of the way. We wild camped halfway up the route the night before, completed a 2-mile hike the previous day, and then tackled an 8-mile hike to the summit of the 950m mountain. They were absolute stars throughout, so a big round of applause for them 🐶🐶🐶

I’m not done yet, I just need slightly warmer water or perhaps a few more cakes! I’ve already booked a 2-mile sea swim in Wales at the beginning of July and fully intend to complete the distance I originally set out to do.

The volunteering trip itself made the whole challenge even more meaningful. I left home at 4am on Thursday and drove nearly 300 miles to volunteer at the RMA Commando Challenge in Lympstone. Seeing where the Royal Marines train and getting a glimpse into the environment that helps shape some of the world’s elite military personnel was an unforgettable experience.

What struck me most was how basic many of the facilities are. It reminded me that every donation, no matter how small, can make a real difference and help provide support where it’s needed most.

Thanks to your generosity, I have raised £215 for the Royal Marines. I’d also like to thank everyone who contributed to my crowdfunding page, which helped make the volunteering trip possible. The RMA Commando Challenge gives civilians a taste of Royal Marines training while raising vital funds for the Royal Marines family, and it was a privilege to play a small part in it.

Thank you to everyone who has donated, supported and encouraged me. Your kindness means more than you know. The challenge isn’t over yet, and I can’t wait to take on that 2-mile swim in Wales.

Thank you all so much.

At the start of May, I set myself a goal of hiking 25km for the Royal Marines Charity. Somehow, that turned into over 25 miles of hiking, mainly in the mountains of North Wales, alongside long drives from Leeds and balancing two jobs.

There were wild camping adventures, carrying a heavy backpack up Kinder Scout, getting caught in brutal snow hail on Glyder Fach, and finishing the month with an unforgettable day on my favourite mountain, Y Garn, followed by a sunset and camp on the Penmon coastline.

Most importantly, there were incredible memories made with great friends and a cause that means a lot to me.

But I’m not finished yet.

My next challenge is a 2-mile swim across Windermere on 12th June to continue raising funds for the Royal Marines Charity and the amazing work they do supporting serving personnel, veterans and their families.

I am fundraising across two different platforms—one for the completed hiking challenge and one for the Windermere swim. If anyone is planning to donate and would like to split their donation between the two pages, I would be hugely grateful. Of course, any support, on either page, means the world to me.

Thank you to everyone who has donated, shared my posts, followed the journey, or simply cheered me on. Every pound makes a difference.

Wish me luck for Winderme

Happiest birthday to my queen 🤍My light in the dark, my little soulmate, and the reason behind so many of my happiest adventures.

I’m so grateful our paths crossed, even if I do drag you up rainy mountains you absolutely hate most of the time 😂But honestly, I’m so proud of you, my brave little angel.

From now on, I promise more water adventures, swims, mud, sheep poops, lakes and paddle days, because that’s where you’re happiest, my little mermaid 🧜🏼‍♀️✨

Love you endless

Dragged the dogs up Ben More & donated toenail to Highlands on Xmas Day. They disowned me… until Christmas lamb chops appeared 😃

This year we took the festive season a bit differently…
And by we, I mean my dogs and myself — the most unhinged but lovable travel squad.
Milo joined us, and we headed up to our favourite place on Earth: Scotland. 🇸🇨✨

Visiting one of Mary, Queen of Scots’ castles on Christmas Day (which is Christmas Day back home in Slovakia!) felt absolutely magical.
Standing in the room where she gave birth to her son James VI …walking the same halls she walked… seeing the crown and coronation pieces — pure history goosebumps.

And this part made the visit even more special:
Mary’s great-grandson, King Charles II, was obsessed with the little spaniels that later became known as King Charles Spaniels.
He loved them so much that they followed him everywhere — in council meetings, in his bedchamber, through palaces… basically, he was the original “crazy dog parent.”
The breed ended up being named after him because he couldn’t go anywhere without a pack of them.
So taking my dogs there felt like a royal dog pilgrimage. 👑🐶

After that, I took the doggies to Edinburgh University so they could learn to be more mature…
but luckily for them, it was closed.
(They handled their academic disappointment with impressive enthusiasm.)

Edinburgh hits different — the history, the buildings, the drama.
It reminded me so much of my hometown… except with more tartan and significantly fewer flat pavements.

Merry rest of Christmas from the mad house

Time flies faster than your pups when they spot a squirrel!

Honestly, I blinked and somehow a whole week disappeared!

I haven’t posted many pictures because I’ve been hiding in my peaceful offline bubble 😂
But your pups are still having a great time causing chaos, cuddles, and everything in between.
Enjoy the photos — and get ready for tomorrow’s masterpiece of a post. I’m working on it! 🐾✨
