Please report cruelty and injured animals to the national helpline on 0300 1234 999. Since 1824 the RSPCA has worked tirelessly to promote kindness and prevent cruelty to animals. To report a mistreated, neglected, injured or distressed animal call 0300 1234 999 or report online at rspca.org.uk. The branch cannot help with these cases; they need to be handled by the national RSPCA's Inspectors. For advice and information go to the RSPCA's website www.rspca.org.uk

The Stort Valley Branch is run as a separate registered charity & branch of the RSPCA and relies on public donations to provide animal welfare support in the local area. If you would like to donate, or to volunteer to help us, please get in touch by email or phone! Our subsidised veterinary service for pets at our Harlow clinic is available to those on 'means tested' benefits. A consultation fee is charged at each visit. Please email or call our friendly team if you need more details or aren't sure whether you're eligible. Injured wildlife is treated free of charge. Normal hours: Monday to Thursday, 10:00am-3:30pm. Please call or email to check hours for a particular day, as we sometimes need to vary them. Our branch area extends from Saffron Walden to Harlow and Broxbourne including and the villages surrounding this corridor. As some neighbouring RSPCA branches don't offer a clinic service, we are also willing to see clients from nearby towns in those areas. There are RSPCA clinics in Chelmsford and Colchester, covering most of Essex. We’re looking for a part-time, RCVS-registered Veterinary Surgeon to join our team at the RSPCA clinic in Harlow for two days per week.

The role will involve first-opinion consultations, preventative healthcare and referrals, helping us provide essential veterinary care to the animals who need it most.

This could be a great opportunity for a semi-retired vet looking to keep their hand in, a parent wanting to fit work around family life, or a vet simply looking for a part-time role with purpose and flexibility.

We’re looking for someone who shares our compassion for animals, understands the importance of charitable veterinary services and wants to make a real difference by helping provide care to those who need it most.

We’d like to say a massive thank you to the team at Tesco Saffron Walden for welcoming RSPCA Stort Valley to the store for a recent bucket collection.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of Tesco customers, we raised a fantastic £283.88! 🎉🐶🐱

It was so lovely to meet and chat with so many customers throughout the day. We were overwhelmed by how warmly we were received, and by the kindness and generosity shown towards the animals that we help.

Every donation, no matter how big or small, helps us continue to care for animals who need us. ❤️

We’d also like to thank the Tesco Saffron Walden team for having us and for supporting our local branch. We’re very grateful for your kindness and support. 🐾

🐾 Can you help us feed local pets in need? 🐾

At RSPCA Stort Valley, pet owners who visit our clinic often tell us that they’re struggling financially and finding it difficult to afford enough food for their beloved pets. 💔

We’d love to build up a supply of pet food that we can offer to families who need a little extra help.

If you have:
🐶 Food your pet no longer likes
🐱 Unopened food left after a much-loved pet has passed away
🐾 Or perhaps you could add an extra pack of pet food to your next food shop…

We would be incredibly grateful for your donation. ❤️
