It's me Hi!

I had some new followers so thought I would introduce myself!

If you are ready to start your dog training, drop me a message!

Your reactive dog may still be barking, but here are some signs that they are improving:

1. They can get closer to dogs before reacting. This means their threshold is reducing.

2. They can look at more dogs before reacting. This means their ability to remain under their threshold for longer periods of time is improving.

3. They settle more at home. The ability to settle and sleep for a reactive dog can let us know how long the cortisol in their system is lingering

4. They don't react to every noise. This means they can cope with some unpredictability.

So even though your dog may bark, take a look at other parts of your walk or home life. And notice the smaller wins!

Ok so I'm not the flashiest on social media.

But I do know a thing or two in helping reactive dog owners start to enjoy their walks again.

If this sounds like you, drop me a message and see how we can work together online or in person to help you and your dog.

There are many things that you can look back on in life and think how you would do it differently.

Bertie was my first dog that I owned, and fair to say we made a few mistakes!

1. I thought he had to be well trained within a year, he was already 9 months old so I felt like I had to catch up!

2. Bertie loved formal obedience. But outside of a training hall he didn't have to have perfect heelwork or front presents. I wish it was more sloppy outside

3. I should have sought help the moment I got him. Having a dog as a family was not the same as being responsible for one myself.

4. I wanted recall, loose lead walking and settle at a cafe all at the same time. In reality it should have been little steps.

5. That walk that I didn't notice him pulling me. The recall off a rabbit. The new friend he made. I should have celebrated them more!

I don't regret any of it as it's made me who I am today and learnt so much!

But in case you are just rescuing a new dog, or bringing a puppy home.
Remember, training takes time, focus on your relationship first then behaviour then finesse.

Ready to start? We have options of classes and 1-2-1s in Harlow and Much Hadham.

Little reminder for you all.
Halloween and Bonfire night are soon. πŸŽƒπŸ‘»πŸŽ†πŸŽ‡

They will creep up on you, if you have a dog who you know is nervous, speak to your vet to see if you can help them. Or start preparing safe areas for them.

If you have a puppy who hasn't experienced it before. Start helping now by desensitizing as much as you can to the noise.

Do you have a shoe stealer?

For most breeds holding something in their mouth helps regulate their emotions.

It can also be a really great game for them if we chase them around.

So if you find yourself in a similar situation. Try part one :) and if that doesn't work hold out for part 2 to see if I got it back or not πŸ˜‚
