My tiny , crazy , funny , most loving , crazy haired boy 💙

You taught me how emotional well being and trust comes before any training,

your strong will of how you like things done , helped my training grow and understand even more that kind ethically methods are the only way forward

My little side kick and dryrobe accessory 🤣

Proud to be a member 💪🐾🐾

Here in the UK, dog behaviour and training is, sadly, unregulated.

The Charter is changing this.

We are setting standards for self-regulation. Every member organisation chooses to be part of this commitment and agrees to uphold the standards we believe all dog guardians should be able to expect. Just as importantly, member organisations agree to be held accountable by the Charter’s independent Oversight Committee if there is an unsatisfactory complaint outcome within their own organisation.

So, what does that mean in practice? Confidence.

For dog guardians it means – CONFIDENCE
🐾 You can use our website to see which organisations are members of The Charter.
🐾 You can then assess your local dog behaviourists and trainers to see if they are a member
🐾 You know that they will put the emotional wellbeing of your dog first
🐾 They have studied, and continue to study, the science and the methodology to give you the best help they possibly can
🐾 If you have concerns, every member organisation has its own complaints process, and you have recourse to the Charter Oversight Committee if you are not satisfied with the outcome.

For members of member organisations, it means – CONFIDENCE
✔️ Your organisation is aiming high. You are qualified within a structure that is preparing for regulation and helping ensure that, when regulation comes, you are recognised for the work you have studied hard to do.
✔️ You are supported and have like-minded professionals from other organisations you can work with, safe in the knowledge that you all work to the same standards
✔️ You don’t have to go and do yet another course to ensure you will be able to continue practising in a regulated environment

For other dog professionals it means – CONFIDENCE
😊 If you are working with members from any of our member organisations, they have knowledge and experience you can rely on
😊 They want to work with you and will only work with you through a vet referral, this is standard practice

We are also immensely proud of our supporting members: organisations and companies that share our mindset and ethics, believe in what we stand for, and stand with us as we continue to push standards forward. We are grateful for their support, belief and encouragement. For more info go to the link in comments.

GIVE REACTIVE DOGS SPACE. 🐾

We need to talk about something we've both noticed recently, because honestly… it's not OK.

Both Izzy and Laura work with reactive dogs every day. Many are works in progress, and every dog is different. They have different triggers, different histories and different things they find difficult.

But recently, we've seen people purposefully walking towards reactive dogs to make them react, or refusing to give space when an owner is clearly trying to move away.

If you see someone cross the road, change direction, step off the path or clearly struggling with their dog…

Give them space.

You don't know what that dog is working through. You don't know their history, their triggers or how much work their owner has put in behind the scenes.

And you don't know how difficult it might have been for that person to even get out for a walk that day.

For many owners of reactive dogs, walks can be incredibly stressful. They're already watching the environment, managing triggers and constantly making decisions to keep their dog comfortable.

And then there's the judgement. The looks. The comments. The assumptions.

When actually, you know nothing about that dog or their owner.

If your dog doesn't struggle around other dogs, that's brilliant! But your dog's confidence doesn't need to come at the expense of another dog's.

You don't need to prove your dog is "fine."

You don't need to walk directly towards someone who's clearly trying to create distance.

Just give them the space they're asking for.

It could be the difference between someone having a positive training experience and feeling like they never want to walk their dog again.

So please, if you see a dog and owner trying to create distance...

Let them.

Be the person who helps, not the person who makes it harder.
It's not cool, guys. 💚
