Meet Ellie, the newest addition to our team of vets…

Ellie graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2023 and spent the first 18 months of her career as an ambulatory vet in the North West, before going on to complete an internship at Leahurst Equine Hospital.

Ellie has ridden horses most of her life and is really looking forward to getting to know you and your ponies! Outside of work, Ellie loves travelling and is always planning her next holiday ✈️🌍🐴

Ellie will be joining us week commencing 14/9/26 i'm sure you will all offer her a warm welcome 😀😀😀

Equine Influenza Cases Are Rising in the UK – Protect Your Horse!

Recent reports show an increase in equine influenza (flu) cases across the UK, and it spreads quickly between horses. Now is the time to stay vigilant.

How to protect your horse:

💉 Keep influenza vaccinations up to date – this is your best defence. If your horse has not been vaccinated within the last 6 months you can give a booster to increase immunity to the influenza virus
🐴 Avoid mixing with horses of unknown vaccination status
☣ Isolate any new arrivals
🥣 Don’t share equipment (buckets, tack, grooming kits)
🫱 Practice good hygiene – wash hands and disinfect regularly
🤒 Monitor for signs: cough, nasal discharge, fever, lethargy

⚠️ If you suspect flu: Contact your vet immediately and isolate the horse to prevent spread.

Equine flu is highly contagious, but with good biosecurity and vaccination, we can limit outbreaks and keep our horses safe 💙

We’re delighted to announce that The Pony Club UK has officially confirmed CVS Equine Vets as its new Veterinary Partner.
At Epona Equine Vets, we’re incredibly proud to be part of CVS Equine and are particularly excited about the opportunities this partnership creates for us to help support education, training and best practice across the Pony Club community.
The Pony Club is the world’s largest equestrian youth organisation, with a long standing commitment to education, training, and horse welfare. Through this collaboration, CVS Equine vets will support The Pony Club’s Training Team, providing trusted, evidence based veterinary content and expertise. This will help ensure that Members, Volunteers, Branches and Centres have access to up to date, practical veterinary knowledge.
Many of us have experienced first hand the positive impact The Pony Club has on young riders, and we’re incredibly proud to be part of a partnership that supports its vital work. We look forward to working together to make a meaningful difference for horses, riders, and the wider equestrian community.
