🐾 What an amazing summer!☀️🐱

As the summer holidays start to wind down, I’ve been looking back at just how busy (and brilliant!) the last few months have been!

🐱 29 gorgeous cats
🐢 1 lovely tortoise
🐓Some lovely chickens
🐠 A few fishy friends
🏡 Lots and lots of visits
❤️ And more cuddles, purrs, head bumps and treats than I could possibly count!

A huge thank you to all my wonderful clients for trusting me to look after your much-loved pets while you’ve been away. It’s been so lovely seeing so many familiar faces and welcoming new ones to the StayPaws family too. 😻

Thatcham is a little outside our usual StayPaws patch, but we’re always happy to help a little further afield when we can. This time, Maisy had the pleasure of looking after these two, making sure they were happy and well cared for while their family were away. 🥰

🐾 SAY HELLO TO GINGER & NUT! 😻😻

A big StayPaws welcome to the gorgeous Ginger & Nut! ❤️

I recently had the pleasure of looking after these two for two weeks, with twice-a-day visits.

They were both quite worried and unsure of me at first, so I took things slowly, keeping my voice soft, giving them plenty of space and letting them decide when they were ready to come to me. 🐾

And what a difference two weeks made! 🥰 By the end of my visits, we were the best of friends, with Ginger and Nut happily coming over for strokes and attention. 😻

One of the loveliest parts of cat sitting is earning a nervous cat’s trust and seeing their personality come out once they feel safe and comfortable. ❤️

It was an absolute pleasure looking after you, Ginger & Nut! 🐾💕

🖤 BLACK CAT APPRECIATION DAY 🖤

Today is Black Cat Appreciation Day, so it’s the perfect excuse to celebrate some of the gorgeous black cats I’ve had the pleasure of looking after! 🐈‍⬛

Sadly, black cats can sometimes be overlooked when it comes to adoption, but anyone who has shared their home with one knows just how special they are. My first cat called Topaz was a black cat so they will always have a special place in my heart!

Let’s give our beautiful black cats a little extra appreciation! 🐾🖤

🐾 SATURDAY SAY HELLO! 👋

Say hello to gorgeous new StayPaws clients Kiri & Kali… and their lovely housemate Bolt the tortoise! 🐢

I’ve recently been looking after this lovely trio with twice-a-day visits, and Kiri and Kali always made sure I got a proper welcome, with plenty of meows as soon as I walked through the door! 😻❤️

Kiri also needs medication as part of her care, alongside all the usual food, fuss, litter duties and attention. 💊🐾 And of course, Bolt gets his food and care too! 🐢

I’ll be looking after them all again very soon, and I’m already looking forward to seeing those lovely faces again! ❤️🐾

🌒 Solar Eclipse Tonight! ☀️🐾

Willow is ready for tonight’s solar eclipse… although I’m not convinced her glasses are quite the right size! 😹🕶️

This evening, 12th August, a partial solar eclipse will be visible across the UK, as part of the total eclipse passing across Greenland, Iceland and northern Spain.

If you’re heading outside to watch, remember:

☀️ Never look directly at the Sun without proper certified eclipse glasses – ordinary sunglasses aren’t safe.

🐱 And what about our pets? They don’t need eclipse glasses! Animals generally aren’t inclined to stare at the Sun, so there’s no need to try to get them to wear eye protection.

🐾 The sudden change in light may make some pets behave a little differently or think evening has arrived early. If your pet seems unsettled, keep things calm and stick to their normal routine.

🏡 If you’re having people over to watch the eclipse, consider keeping cats and nervous pets safely indoors, with somewhere familiar to hide away. Keeping doors, windows and cat flaps secure is also a good idea when there’s unusual activity outside.

Most importantly, enjoy this rather special evening! 🌒✨

A very big StayPaws hello to the wonderful Coach! 🐾😻 Owned by the lovely Paws For Thought Pet Care ❤️

I looked after this gorgeous boy recently and have to say from first greeting he was full of purrs and loved a stroke! So much so, he nearly pushed me over 😂

Lovely to have him join the StayPaws family and look forward to looking after him again soon! 💙

Say hello to the gorgeous Gypsy! 🐾😻

This beautiful British Blue was an absolute pleasure to look after recently. Welcomed me with such a lovely loud meow and just look at that gorgeous plush coat! 💙

I honestly couldn’t stop stroking her, she was just far too soft and cuddly to resist! 🥰🐾
