🐾 WE ARRIVE WITH A PLAN... AND LEAVE WITH ANOTHER ONE 🐾

Every trailing session starts with an idea of what we'd like to work on.

But dogs don't read training plans. They give us information in real time. That's why training is never simply about ticking exercises off a list (even though I have a list 😆).

It's about observing the dog in front of us and allowing what happens on the trail to inform where we go next.

✨ TODAY'S TEAMS ✨

🐾 Mantrailing

• Sassy — Cross trails, same person • Sonny & Finn — Aged and split trails • Annie — Cross trails, different person and decoys

🔎 Trail Hunt

• Sassy & Bear — Multiodour Trail Assessment ✅ PASS • Casper — 1st Progression • Lochie — Line Handling ✅ PASS and reading the dog on the trail

Huge congratulations to everyone today! 🎉

Some brilliant work, some fantastic learning and most importantly, plenty of information to take forward into our next sessions.

But your dog's reactive? Yes, she is.

But we had bigger fish to fry.

She was also a resource guarder, with me being the resource.

She had two very specific triggers: my daughter approaching me, and Rascal approaching me. No one else.

If you've ever experienced this, you'll know what a big deal that can be.

My daughter and Cassey now have a brilliant relationship. My daughter also deserves an A+ in reading and understanding canine body language. ❤️

Rascal and Cassey have a great relationship too, but Rascal's poor eyesight means he doesn't always pick up on those early, subtle signals. So, while we worked on the specific triggers with Cassey, lots of management was put in place to keep everyone safe and comfortable.

This week, for the first time, both dogs slept on the bed with me all night. Twice. And it was peaceful. No issues.

(Except I was absolutely knackered because I slept with one ear open! 😂)

If you're living with a dog with generalised anxiety or multiple behaviour challenges, sometimes prioritising is necessary.

And that's okay. You don't have to do everything at once. In fact, it would probably have made Casseys guarding behaviour worse.

What people see on the outside is rarely the full story of what's happening on the inside.

Progress isn't always obvious. Sometimes it's quiet, carefully managed, and only truly understood by the people living it every day.

🐾 FREE 4-DAY SCENT WORK CHALLENGE 🐾

Have you ever wondered if scent work is something your dog would enjoy? Dabbled before but not yet convinced?.

Or maybe you've heard people talking about scent work and thought, I'd love to give that a go... but I wouldn't know where to start!

Well, here's your chance!

Join me for a completely FREE 4-Day Scent Work Challenge!

Starting Friday 18th September, we'll spend four days exploring the brilliant world of scent work together.

✨ Friday - Q&A time 5pm
✨ Saturday - Q&A time 7pm
✨ Sunday - Q&A time 7pm
✨ Monday - Q&A time 7pm

Each morning, you'll receive a short lesson or two for you and your dog to try at home. Each evening we will have a 1 hour Q&A session.

And the best part? You don't need any specialist equipment whatsoever!

You can get started using everyday items such as:

🔑 A set of keys
📱 A phone case
👛 A wallet

The challenge will take place in a dedicated WhatsApp group, where we can share our experiences and celebrate all those little wins along the way.

Think of it as a fun little scent work club for four days! 🐾

This is a group taster experience, designed to introduce you and your dog to scent work and give you a fun activity to enjoy together.

Whether your dog is a complete beginner, a professional sniffer in the making, or you simply fancy trying something new together, you're very welcome!

⚠️ PLEASE NOTE: If you're already in The Membership, this mini workshop has been added to the membership today, so you already have access! 🎉

What can scent work do for your dog? 🐾

Well… let's ask the dogs!

Scent work is so much more than just finding something. Every dog comes to class as an individual, with their own personality, experiences and challenges.

For some, it's about building confidence.

For others, it's finding focus amongst distractions.

It can provide a fantastic low-impact activity for older dogs, give energetic dogs an appropriate outlet, and most importantly… let dogs do something they naturally love; USE THEIR NOSE!

There is no perfect scent work dog.

Whether your dog is nervous, excitable, young, old, experienced or completely new to training, there is something incredibly special about watching them get their nose down and get to work. 🐶✨

Which benefit do you think your dog would enjoy most?

Next beginners class starts 15th September. Link in the comments!
