Having some time “off” this week and deep cleaning the salon was on the list today. 🧹

Hours and hours of clearing dog hair, sorting drawers of brushes, combs and hair covered bottles of spray and shampoo! And it’s still not finished… I cried out “send help” and Suze the Shih Tzu owner (my very helpful sister in law) came to the rescue! So huge thanks to her for helping me today. 😊🙌🏻🫶🏻

⭐️ APPOINTMENT NOW TAKEN⭐️

I thought I’d mention the ‘C’ word… CHRISTMAS! 🎄🐾

I have one slot available on Saturday 19th December at 11am for a bath & dry only. After that, I’m fully booked right through until I finish on 23rd December, when I will be off for 10 days to recover! 😂

The weeks leading up to Christmas are also looking very busy, so if you need a Christmas appointment, please don’t leave it too late to book.

I’ll be back to the grooming table from 2nd January 2027.

Fixing a chunk with lots of scissor blending, saving taking the ear depth shorter.

We've all done it... I reversed clipped my lovely Harley before I trained and turned a wirehaired terrier into a greyhound! 😬🤣

The Jo Malone Dog Spa Package!

I will be trialling this on my own dogs when my order arrives, as I love a bit of Jo Malone. But I have already sold a Jo Malone bath and dry today, so I will let you know more very soon. 😍

PS Tom Hardy is not included as my dog bather... Sorry! 😂

Dear Dolly you will be so missed... 😢

She has always been a huge animal lover, especially when it comes to dogs! 🐾 Her French Bulldogs brought her so much love and happiness over the years and they inspired her to create the fabulous Doggy Parton range.

I'm sure a Rhinestone star will be shining bright tonight. ✨

⭐️ THE HYBRID HANDSTRIP ⭐️

Handstripping: some dogs don’t mind it, some dogs don’t… and the same can probably be said for groomers too! 😆

I have a couple of clients whose dogs I still fully handstrip, but over the last year or so I’ve increasingly moved towards the hybrid handstrip method shown in the photo.

Full handstripping can be hard work on the dog and pretty tough on my hands as well! The hybrid method has become my grooming style for many wire-haired breeds, and my clients are really happy with the finish, and how the coat looks and grows out between grooms.

If you’re specifically looking for a full traditional handstrip, I’m always happy to recommend a specialist groomer I know and pass on her details. But if you like the look of the hybrid handstrip, then come and see me at Country Barn Dog Grooming. 🐾

And can we have some appreciation for gorgeous Arthur the Border Terrier, who joined the CB team today and is the perfect example of a hybrid handstrip! 🤩
