Today, I have to write a post that I never wanted to make. Unfortunately, Bonny, my little sidekick, passed away in the early hours of Monday morning, just a couple months away from her 15th Birthday. As everything in Bonny’s life, it happened on her own terms, in her own way.
Some people wait years to meet their soul dog. Some never meet them at all. I got the joy of meeting mine at just 7 years old. Growing up with Asperger’s, life was often a challenge for me, but Bonny gave me a reason to get up every morning. She wasn’t just a pet, she was my reason for living, and not just a family member, but a part of me. I don’t remember life without Bonny, and I know now I never have to live a life without her.
As many of you who knew Bonny may know, we never thought she’d make her 13th Birthday, never mind nearly her 15th. She almost didn’t see the opening of her very own doggy park, but with just a little bit of fight from Bonny and our family, she got almost two more amazing years and my gosh did she live them! The park was Bonny’s second chance at life, and she took it with all four paws 🐾
If it wasn’t for Bonny, aka Posh Paws, this business would not exist. My career nonexistent. My life completely different. So I thank her for everything. And although she may not be on this planet anymore, her legacy will live forever.
As such a well traveled dog, from the top of the country to the very bottom, she had the best adventures, and now she goes onto her next one. She’d like to thank you for every pet you gave her, and every treat she guilted you into feeding her. For those who knew Bonny, and want to help wish her on her way, make sure to give your dogs double their normal amount of treats on their next walk, true Bonny style.
I’ll see you around the bend Mrs Wonsie. I know you’ll be with me always. Keep that tail wagging and that nose sniffing my baby 😘
