Last week, Lucy, our Practice Manager, and Genine, our Senior Veterinary Nurse, had the pleasure of attending Merrist Wood College to discuss their exciting new Animal Management courses and how the small animal veterinary industry can help shape and support the next generation of animal care professionals.

As the lead for work experience at our practice and trainer for our student veterinary nurses, Genine was able to share valuable insights from both her clinical and mentoring experience, helping to ensure students are equipped with the skills and knowledge needed for a successful career in the industry.

We are proud to regularly welcome Merrist Wood students for work experience placements and are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to contribute our thoughts and experiences to the development of these new courses.

A huge thank you to the team at Merrist Wood College for inviting us. We look forward to continuing to work together and supporting future veterinary professionals on their journey. 🐾🎓

Often the first point of contact for our clients and teams, receptionists juggle appointment scheduling, client communication, emergency triage, administration, payments and so much more — all while showing empathy, professionalism and resilience, even in the most challenging moments.

They are organisers, communicators, problem solvers and team players. They support our vets and nurses, reassure worried clients, manage busy practice workflows and help ensure every pet gets the care they need, when they need it.

At CVS, we know that great patient care doesn’t start in the consult room — it starts at reception. That’s why we’re proud to support our reception teams with opportunities to connect, share experiences and feel valued as the essential professionals they are.

We were very lucky to have vet Alex (an advanced practitioner in diagnostic imaging) from Phoenix Vets Camberley come and teach us all more about ultrasonography on Wednesday! 🫀

The staff bought their dogs in for practice scans whilst Alex demonstrated to our vets and some new graduates on how to find specific landmarks.

Ultrasonography can be tricky, so we were very grateful to have Alex to go through this with the vets 👏🏻
